California Dad Admits to Killing His 2 Kids in Mexico Over Qanon, ‘Serpent DNA’ Conspiracy Theories
A California dad has admitted to killing his two kids in Mexico over QAnon and "serpent DNA" conspiracy theories, federal officials said.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Central District of California, Matthew Taylor Coleman, 40, was charged Wednesday with foreign murder of U.S. nationals in connection with the death of his two-year-old son and his 10-month-old daughter.
Authorities said the California dad was a follower of QAnon and Illuminati conspiracy theories who thought his kids would "grow into monsters."
A criminal complaint noted that Coleman confessed to killing his kids using a spearfishing gun to stab them. The California dad also told authorities on Monday the location of the murder weapon and the bloody clothing that he discarded.
Matthew Taylor Coleman also identified the two bodies recovered by authorities in Mexico as those of his children. Prosecutors in the state of Baja California in Mexico said that Coleman was arrested by U.S. border agents on Monday when he attempted to return to the United States.
Chief prosecutor for central Baja California, Hiram Sanchez Zamora, confirmed the arrest and detention of the California dad. Coleman attempted to enter the border in San Diego via Tijuana in his vehicle.
On Wednesday, Matthew Taylor Coleman appeared before a judge who ordered that he be held without bond and set his arraignment for August 31.

California Dad Kills His Kids in Mexico
The kids' bodies were discovered on Monday morning after Mexican officials responded to a 911 call. The caller found the children's bodies near a ranch about 18 miles from a hotel in Tijuana, Mexico, where the California dad was reported to have checked in with his kids two days before discovering the bodies.
Mexican authorities said the kids were found with "large puncture wounds" to their chests. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) got involved in the case after Coleman's wife notified the Santa Barbara Police that her husband took the kids out on Saturday but did not tell her where they were going.
The wife said the California dad was also not responding to her messages. On Sunday, a missing report was filed by the wife.
With the use of an app, authorities learned that Coleman's last known location was in Rosarito, Mexico. Police then alerted the FBI about the incident as it became a case of suspected parental kidnapping.
Matthew Taylor Coleman Believer of QAnon and 'Serpent DNA' Conspiracy Theories
The complaint noted that Matthew Taylor Coleman acknowledged that what he did to his children was wrong. However, he argued that killing them was the only way to "save the world."
The California dad told authorities that conspiracy theories led him to believe that his wife passed her "serpent DNA" to the kids.
According to reports, the "serpent DNA" is likely to reference the "lizard people" conspiracy theory, which falsely conveys that reptilian aliens secretly run the world and hold important positions in government and banks, among others.
The complaint revealed that Coleman learned about the said theory through QAnon and Illuminati conspiracy theories.
NBC News reported that believers in each conspiracy blended together over the past years as conspiracy theory influencers on social media frequently combined the theories.
