Sofia Vergara, Pitbull, and Eugenio Derbez: Latino Celebrities Honored With Hollywood Walk of Fame Stars
The next batch of celebrities getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next year includes a selection of singers, actors and producers.
And three Latinos will be inducted next year. Sofia Vergara, Pitbull and Eugenio Derbez will be honored with their own stars, ABC noted.
"The Walk of Fame Committee is excited to announce the Class of 2015 Star Honorees to the Hollywood Walk of Fame," said Maureen Schultz, chair of the Walk of Fame selection committee for 2014-2015, in a statement. "We know that the new selections represent the best of the entertainment industry and will be a good addition to the Walk of fame for both the Hollywood community and fans from around the world who visit Hollywood every year. We look forward to welcoming all our new honorees to one of the most popular tourist attractions in California."
The committee chooses from hundreds of nominees. The Hollywood Chamber's Board of Directors then approves of the choices. Each person gets a five-year span to set the date for their ceremony.
Vergara, 41, started working for Univision in the late '90s.
In 2003, her first Hollywood film was "Chasing Papi." She then appeared in a string of movies, including "Madea Goes to Jail" and "Four Brothers." Her biggest role is as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on "Modern Family," which has been on since 2009.
Pitbull may have sung the official World Cup anthem this year, but there was a time when he was only recognized in Miami. He has worked with Jennifer Lopez, Ne-Yo and Lil Jon on his way to superstardom.
As for Eugenio Derbez, his movie "Instructions Not Included" became a hit. Before that, he worked on Broadway play "Latinologues." He was also in Adam Sandler's "Jack and Jill," and he's the voice of the donkey in "Shrek" for Latin America.
