'Avatar: The Legend of Korra' Returns June 27: Watch First 5 Minutes From Book 3 Premiere [Spoilers]
When the official trailer for "The Legend of Korra" was released earlier this month, there was one detail that was missing: the premiere date.
It's been announced that Korra and friends will be back on Nickelodeon starting June 27, according to IGN. And fans won't just get one episode. Starting at 7 p.m., the first episode "Change" will start. The second one, "Rebirth of a Nation," will also air that night, and at 8 p.m., Nickelodeon will air a special bonus presentation of "The Earth Queen," the third episode of the season.
Nickelodeon has the first five minutes of Book 3 online. (See below.)
The extra episodes probably account for the fact that the following week is Fourth of July, which is when the show will take its first break. After that the episodes will continue to air on Friday at 8 p.m., beginning on July 11.
The first episode's description says, "After the events of Harmonic Convergence, Avatar Korra discovers that her decision to leave the spirit portals open has unexpected consequences. Wild spirit vines have overgrown Republic City and Airbenders are suddenly popping up across the four nations."
The clip opens on Korra and Tenzin walking through Republic City. Jinora and the spirits follow behind. Korra wonders how they will clear the vines, and fire bends to little effect.
Though Korra expresses disappointment at not being able to get rid of the vines, Jinora asks why she would want to do that. She says that they are now once again connected to the spirit world.
Korra says that the people who used to live in Republic City are probably not very excited about the vines.
The description for the second episode says, "Korra, Tenzin and Team Avatar search for new Airbenders in an effort to recruit them and rebuild the Air Nation. Meanwhile, a band of sinister criminals are organizing to hunt down the Avatar themselves."
If you have fallen behind, want to rewatch or want to get into the "The Legend of Korra," the episodes are available for free on Nick.com for a limited time.
