Netizens mocked President Joe Biden this week after he told a story about leaving a dead dog on a Republican woman's doorstep while serving as a county official in Delaware.

According to The Daily Mail, Biden told the story at the National Association of Counties Legislative Conference in Washington Hilton on Tuesday, as he reminisced about the time he spent on the New Castle County Council in the 1970s.

The president recalled how he represented a middle-class district to a working-class district, with "one very wealthy neighborhood" within its confines, Fox News reported.

"I got a call one night, a woman said to me - obviously not of the same persuasion as I was, politically - called me and said, 'There's a dead dog on my lawn'," Biden said.

The president noted that he then asked the Republican woman if she had already called the county, and the woman said "yes," but "they're not here."

"I said, 'Well, I'll get them in the morning.' She said, 'I want it removed now. I pay your salary.' So, I went over. I picked it up. She said, 'I want it out of my front yard.' I put it on her doorstep," he added to the laughs and applause of the crowd.

The president admitted that he has "gotten much better since then." He then told the crowd that he sympathized with them as he knew "how hard the job you have is."

"People having to phone or - you know, or not afraid to use that phone. I used to give out my phone number. Can't do that anymore. They don't even allow me to have a phone anymore," Biden noted.

However, Biden's story was immediately slammed by conservatives on Twitter. The Republican National Committee asked, "what is he [Biden] talking about?"

Former senior legal adviser and counsel to former President Donald Trump Jenna Ellis also asked if anyone "really knows" what the president is "talking about these days."

Radio host Dana Loesch tweeted: "Joe Biden can't remember half the things most of the time but he can sure as hell remember that time he put a random dead dog on the porch of someone who disliked his politics."

Comedian Terrence K. Williams asked where PETA is, adding that if Trump was the one who said it, it would be all over the news.

"Joe Biden must go! He is unhinged. Am I right or Am I right?" he added.

Biden was in his late 20s when he was elected in 1970 to serve on the council of New Castle for two years. In 1972, he won the U.S. Senate race at age 29. 

Joe Biden is infamous for forgetting and confusing things, and he has made the headlines for the same reason. During a meeting with rabbis prior to the Jewish holiday season last September, the president appeared to have forgotten the name of a Jewish song being played at her daughter's wedding.

"My mind is going blank now, what is the song that is played, with everybody around the chairs, up? I can't remember- anyways I'm taking too much of your time," he said, appearing confused.

In the same month, while announcing that the U.S. would share its nuclear technology to help Australia create a multi-billion dollar fleet of nuclear-powered submarines, Biden forgot the Australian prime minister's name.

When he was supposed to thank Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison, the president turned towards the screen where Morrison was, but he showed a moment of hesitation. Biden then said: "And I want to thank that fella down under. Thank you very much pal. Appreciate it Mr. Prime Minister."

Biden made another major gaffe last month after forgetting what year it was during a White House press briefing. While speaking about 2022, Biden claimed it was the year 2020, saying "there's a lot of reason to be hopeful in 2020."

Joe Biden on His Dead Dog Champ

In June, Joe Biden announced the death of their "beloved" dog Champ, who had been with them for 13 years. The president tweeted that their family lost their "loving companion Champ," and he "will miss him." 

According to BBC, Champ was one of two German Shepherds living at the White House with Biden and his family, alongside Major. He had also lived in Washington when Biden was vice-president.

In a statement, the Bidens said: "In our most joyful moments and in our most grief-stricken days, he was there with us, sensitive to our every unspoken feeling and emotion. We love our sweet, good boy and will miss him always." 

Joe Biden Welcomes a New Dog

In December, Joe Biden has welcomed a new dog. The new German Shepherd in the White House was named Commander.

The president welcomed the new pup by posting a photo of the canine happily roaming the White House lawn with a ball on its mouth. Commander is the third presidential dog to enter the White House since Joe Biden took office.
