The new iPhone 5S and Samsung's Galaxy Note 3 may be getting the lion's share of attention in the new smartphone department, but that doesn't mean that they are the only options. For those looking for something a bit less conventional, AT&T's Moto X may be the way to go.

"Beginning Aug. 23, you can pick up the new Moto X from AT&T or be the first to create your customized Moto X online. The customizable version of Moto X is the first smartphone designed by you, assembled in the USA and available only for AT&T," states AT&T.

That's right, Aug. 23, as in almost a full three weeks before the rumored release date of the next generation of iPhones. The Galaxy Note 3 has also recently moved up its release date, but projection still only put on the shelves sometime in September at the absolute earliest.

The Moto X is the new flagship smartphone for Motorola, and though it hasn't received nearly as much attention as Apple's or Samsung's big-time devices, it packs an impressive punch in its own right. More than anything else, the Moto X is attempting to distinguish itself from the pack by offering innovative perks to those who purchase.

Every Moto X customer will be able to customize many of the aesthetic details of their new phone. From storage capacity to button and body color options, when all is said and done the Moto X certainly feels like a much more personal device.

"Each store will also have color samples available for users who would like to get a feel for each color hue before they use the Moto Maker website to create their own custom colored device. Users won't be able to pick up a custom colored device in store, but AT&T and Motorola will ship each customized device to the user within four days," writes gottabemobile.com.

Additionally, those who opt to personalize their Moto X will also receive a Motorola Skip. The Skip is a small device that easily clips to a belt loop and allows one to bypass the phone's password code simply by touching the phone to the Skip. The Skip will also come with Skip "dots," which can be affixed to various other surfaces to be used for the same purpose.

The 16GB Moto X has a price of $200, while the 32GB version starts at $250. It features a 4.7-inch HD display, LTE capabilities, 2GB of RAM, a 10-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 2-megapixel font-facing camera, and an X8 processor.
