Texas man Guy Reffitt was found guilty on all charges in the first U.S. Capitol attack trial, the same day Proud Boys leader, Enrique Tarrio, was arrested and charged with conspiracy. 

Guy Wesley Reffitt on Tuesday was found liable by the jury as they took less than four hours to deliberate, CBS News reported.

Reffitt was indicted last year by a grand jury on five counts, including transporting a rifle and semi-automatic handgun in Washington D.C. He was also charged for carrying a handgun on the Capitol grounds on January 6 and impeding law enforcement officers in the area.

In addition, Reffitt, a member of Texas Three Percenters, was also slammed with obstruction of justice, illegally entering the Capitol complex, and obstructing Congress' counting for the 2020 Electoral College votes, per CBS News.

"[This] should serve as a reminder for others who committed crimes at the Capitol that day that these are serious charges and that the FBI and our law enforcement partners will do what it takes to hold them accountable," FBI Washington Field office assistant director, Steven D'Antuono, said.

CBS noted that Reffitt's son Jackson Reffitt, testified against his father on Tuesday's trial as the jury played a recording where Guy was heard admitting that he had carried a gun outside the Capitol. The said recording was turned over by Jackson to the FBI.

Guy Reffitt faces a maximum of 60 years imprisonment, and his sentencing is set on June 8, CBS News mentioned.

Capitol Attack: Enrique Tartio Charged With Conspiracy

As Guy Riffitt was found guilty on his charges on Tuesday, Proud Boys leader, Enrique Tarrio, was arrested and charged the same day with conspiracy in the U.S. Capitol attack on January 6, per CNN.

The move was confirmed by the Justice Department, claiming that "Tarrio and his co-defendants conspired to corruptly obstruct, influence, and impede an official proceeding," which is the Electoral College vote.

The indictment pointed out that the conspiracy charged against Tarrio included the use of social media in raising funds to support travel and "equipment purchases" for their trip to D.C. The document also highlighted that the group used encrypted messages in planning for the Capitol attack and used handheld radios to coordinate with each other, according to CNN.

Tarrio was previously arrested for burning a Black Lives Matter banner at a Black church. A judge ordered him to leave D.C. in January, which is also the day of his release, Al Jazeera reported. However, the indictment noted that Tarrio did not comply with the conditions of his release, but instead met with Oath Keepers founder, Elmer Rhodes, in an underground garage for approximately 30 minutes.

Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio appeared on court on Tuesday in Florida, and he will remain in jail until detention hearing to be held on Friday.

Capitol Attack: Other Arrests in Connection to the January 6 Riot

Enrique Tarrio was not the only one arrested in connection to the Capitol riot on January 6.

Reports noted that Ethan Nordean, Joseph Biggs, Zachary Rehl, Charles, Donohoe, and Dominic Pezzola were also named as defendants in the indictment, per CNN.

Al Jazeera mentioned that four of the mentioned Proud Boys members will face trial in May, but the outlet did not specify the names who will face the said trial.

Meanwhile, 11 members of Oath Keepers anti-government group were also charged with seditious conspiracy concerning the Capitol Attack.
