"West Side Story" also won the Best Supporting Actress category, as Ariana DeBose won the award for her role in the film as "Anita."
Ariana competed for the title with Catríona Balfe from "Belfast," Ann Dowd from "Mass," Kirsten Dunst from "The Power of the Dog," and Aunjanue Ellis from "King Richard," and co-star Rita Moreno.
The Daily Mail noted that Moreno attended the Critics Choice Awards 2022 held in Los Angeles, appearing in a two-toned gown with a featured puffy green sleeve.
However, DeBose, who won the accolade, attended the awards remotely from London.
"Thank you, thank you to the Critics Choice Association. Critics, you matter, and I am so, so, so grateful for your support of 'West Side Story,'" DeBose said during her speech, according to The Daily Mail.
Debose further thanked the award-giving body, explaining that it "rallied" and loved every single one in their film.
DeBose then concluded her remarks by giving a message to the young people.
"To all young people, it doesn't matter how you identify, or who you are, you are unique, you are talented, you are seen, you are valued, you are loved, and you matter. Please don't ever forget that," DeBose said, as she thanked everyone in the awards ceremony.

The actress underscored that Moreno "made a space" for her to thrive beside her, contending that it was the "greatest gift" the Puerto Rican actress can ever give to her.
The Best Supporting Actress award from the Critics Choice Awards 2022 was not the only accolade DeBose was able to win on Sunday.
According to The Daily Mail, the "West Side Story" actress also won the same award in the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA). She was also nominated for the same category in the Oscars.
