Elon Musk Mars Prediction: SpaceX CEO Sees Humans Stepping on the Red Planet by 2029!
Elon Musk shared a much later prediction of when humans will set foot on Mars.
The SpaceX founder's comment came after he was asked by a Twitter user with the handle @SpaceHub_SL, showing a collage of photos revealing the Apollo 11 moon landing in 1969, per Insider. Furthermore, the photo below shows astronauts on the red planet with the caption "20__?"
The photo also tagged Elon Musk and asked for the Tesla CEO's prediction of when people will set foot on Mars. Musk then took the opportunity to reply and said "2029," a statement the SpaceX founder did not further.
As reported by Cnet, the predicted year is 60 years since the first moon landing in 1969. Several netizens reacted to Musk's prediction online.
One user said that they cannot wait to play basketball on Mars.
Meanwhile, journalist Assad Hanna said that he will take a screenshot of Musk's latest prediction, put a reminder, and see what happens by 2029.
Musk made his comments the same day a joint mission to Mars by Europe and Russia was suspended due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, per NPR.

Elon Musk's Mars Landing Predictions
It was not the first time Musk shared his thoughts regarding the Mars landing. Insider noted that when the SpaceX founder unveiled his grand plans of colonizing the red planet, Elon Musk pointed out that they may launch people by 2024 with arrival in 2025 "if things go according to plan."
In December 2020, Elon Musk pushed back the original target date for Mars landing, as he aimed 2026 to do that, per Cnet.
Musk's target dates for landing on Mars are also inclined to the ideal launch windows for this decade because it is known that the red planet and the Earth move closer to one another and then farther away again. Cnet pointed out that the ideal launch windows to Mars for this decade are later this year, late 2024, late 2026, and late 2028 or early 2029.
Elon Musk Wants 1 Million Humans on Mars
In 2020, Musk revealed his goals on his Mars project and said that he wanted to build a city of one million people on Mars by 2050, according to Insider.
During that time, the SpaceX founder said that he hoped to build 1,000 Starships over 10 years, which will equate to 100 spacecraft per year.
It can be recalled that the Starship is a "towering and ostensibly reusable" spaceship that is developed by Musk's company in South Texas. The Tesla CEO also pointed out that his goal s to launch at least three spaceships per day and make the trip to Mars available for anyone, Insider noted.
In a tweet, Musk shared that, loans will be available for those who don't have money but want to settle down on Mars. The SpaceX founder that there will also be a lot of jobs on the red planet.
