Lionel Messi and Antonela Roccuzzo's love for each other has already passed the test of time. The pair were no strangers to each other when they were young, as both of them were from Rosario, Argentina, according to Hola.
They were introduced by Messi's teammate Lucas Scaglia who played football with Messi at Newell's Old Boys youth set-up.
Scaglia is Roccuzzo's cousin. Messi and Roccuzzo were introduced when Scaglia invited Messi to spend the summer with his family. This encounter led Messi and Roccuzzo to fall in love at nine years old. However, their love also went through some challenges.
At 11, The Daily Star reported that FC Barcelona called Messi, and he had to move to Spain to pursue his career in soccer. At this point, Messi thought the relationship was over.
"Imagine moving with your family to a new continent at age 13 with everyone's future riding on you. It was a complicated time," Messi told Sports Illustrated in a 2017 interview.
Messi concentrated on playing football until he rose to the ranks at the Nou Camp before he took off the football scene in 2004.

While Lionel Messi was away, Antonela Roccuzzo furthered her education and attended the University of Rosario.
She initially went to the university to become a dentist. However, she later shifted to social communication and eventually signed a deal with Argentine fashion label Ricky Sarkany.
Despite being away from each other, the pair reportedly kept in touch and reunited sometime in 2008 when Messi flew to Argentina to comfort Roccuzzo following the death of her friend in a car crash.
Messi immediately booked a flight and returned to Rosario, Argentina to comfort her childhood sweetheart. Their reconnection led to the rekindling of their affection for each other, with Roccuzzo deciding to join Messi back in Spain.
The couple then resided together at Messi's house in Castelldefels, Barcelona, marking the start of their life as a couple. In November 2012, the couple's first child, Thiago Messi, was born.
Mateo Messi, their second son, was born in September 2015. In March 2018, their third son, Ciro Messi, was born.
Lionel Messi and Antonela Roccuzzo decided to tie the knot in Rosario, Argentina in 2017 and invited over 260 guests. To date, the couple lives the best of their life with their three adorable children.
