Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene Texted Mark Meadows to Impose Martial Law After Capitol Riot: Report
Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green texted former Donald Trump aide Mark Meadows about implementing martial law after the Capitol riot that occurred on Jan. 6, 2021.
Greene had texted Meadows last January 17 saying that the only way to save "our Republic is for Trump to "call for Marshall law," according to a CNBC News report.
"Marshall Law" was a misspelling of martial law, which refers to the emergency power that puts the military in charge of the government.
Greene's text message reportedly said, "I don't know on those things. I just wanted you to tell him," further claiming that the election was stolen.
The lawmaker also told Meadows to tell Trump to "declassify as much as possible so we can go after Biden and anyone else."
Meanwhile, the former Trump aide did not appear to respond to Greene. Greene's office did not comment on the report.
The representative sent the text three days before the former president was set to leave office after his defeat to U.S. President Joe Biden.

Capitol Riot Text Messages
Meadows provided the text messages to a House committee investigating the Capitol riot.
He has fielded urgent questions from members of Congress, cabinet officials, Trump lawyers and advisors, Fox News figures, Trump family members, and other members of the former president's inner circle, according to a Slate report.
The messages were obtained by CNN, with a total of 2,319 text messages to fill out the picture that has been drawn over the past few months as other texts were released.
The texts have discovered that Trump refused to quickly condemn the violence that took place on Capitol Hill steps; as well as Ginni Thomas accused Biden of "attempting the greatest Heist of our History."
Ginni Thomas is a conservative activist and wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.
The trove of messages also showed that Donald Trump Jr. had developed a strategy for overturning the election even before the election was called for Biden.
Capitol Riot Panel Investigation
The House committee has voted to recommend that two onetime aides to Trump, Peter Navarro and Dan Scavino, be held in contempt of Congress for refusing to comply with congressional subpoenas, according to The New York Times report.
A federal judge had also earlier written that it was "more likely than not" that the former president had broken the law by trying to disrupt a joint session of Congress, as well as conspiring to defraud the United States.
There was a nearly eight-hour gap in Trump's call logs from January 6, according to investigators. They are now discussing whether to demand the former president's phone records.
In addition, investigators are looking into Trump's tweet from December 2020, wherein he invited his supporters to gather in Washington on January 6.
Federal law enforcement officials have arrested more than 775 people suspected of being involved in the Capitol riot.
However, they have yet to charge any member of Trump's inner circle with a crime.
