AAPI Victory Alliance Celebrates House Passage of Rep. Grace Meng’s Asian American Museum Bill
The House of Representatives has passed H.R. 3525, a bill which seeks to create the first national museum dedicated to preserving the history, culture, and accomplishments of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI). As AAPI Heritage Month approaches, the bill now moves to the Senate for consideration.
AAPI Victory Alliance Executive Director Varun Nikore issued the following statement:
"After a wave of record-high anti-AAPI hate incidents, it is more critical than ever for the Senate to pass Congresswoman Grace Meng's bill, which is a first step to creating the first ever national museum dedicated to Asian American Pacific Islander history and culture. Our community is more than the tragic headlines that we have seen on a seemingly everyday basis over the last two years; we are a community full of rich history, traditions, and culture that deserves to be shared with the American people. This bill would be monumental for the Asian American Pacific Islander community as well as the rest of America: it will allow future generations and our neighbors to understand and appreciate our long-standing history in this country and show that there is no America without the AAPI community."
