Bill Gates on Meeting Jeffrey Epstein: 'It Was a Huge Mistake to Spend Time With Him'
Microsoft founder Bill Gates has shared his thoughts regarding meeting Jeffrey Epstein, the disgraced financier accused of child sex crimes who committed suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial. Gates opened up that he did not realize at the time that having those meetings would be seen as "giving him credibility," according to a Newsmax report.
He added that it was almost implied that he forgives "that type of behavior," noting that he made a huge mistake not understanding that.
Gates said in an interview last August that he regretted meeting with Epstein, adding that it was a "huge mistake to spend time with him, to give him the credibility of being there." He noted that he only met with Epstein, hoping to raise more money to deal with global health issues.

Bill Gates Meeting Jeffrey Epstein
In previous interview, Bill Gates has said he stopped the meetings with Epstein when he found that the meetings would not be helpful for his philanthropic foundation, according to a Business Insider report.
Gates' dinner with Epstein has caused friction between him and his now ex-wife and business partner, Melinda French Gates, who has described Epstein as "evil personified."
In an interview with Sunday Times, Gates admitted that there was an error of judgment. Gates addressed the state of the billionaire's life after the end of his 27-year marriage in the same interview.
Meanwhile, French Gates said that she just met Epstein one time and "regretted it from the second" she stepped in the door, according to New York Post report. She noted that her heart breaks for the young women who were victimized by Epstein.
In addition, she also acknowledged that the meetings between Gates and Epstein played a role in their separation and divorce.
Melinda French Gates
Melinda French Gates said she did not like that her then-husband had meetings with Epstein, which she made clear to Gates, according to a Vanity Fair report.
Aside from meeting the convicted sex offender, she also noted how Gates had an affair with a staffer 20 years ago, which a spokesperson for the Microsoft co-founder confirmed last May.
The philanthropist said she never thought that she would get divorced. However, she noted that their relationship got to a point where she felt she could no longer carry on.
French Gates said that she was committed to the marriage from the day they got engaged until the day she got out of it.
Meanwhile, Gates declined to answer a question about whether he had been unfaithful before his divorce from French Gates. It was reported that Gates had inappropriate relationships with subordinates at Microsoft, which caused an investigation on the tech tycoon.
Gates said that he still sees his ex-wife as a "friend." However, French Gates refused to use the same word to describe their current relationship. French Gates said that she and Gates were on "friendly" terms, but they were definitely not "friends."
