The GOP has expressed alarm after seeing U.S. baby formula shortage on shelves, with stocks of baby formula being sent to U.S. border facilities.

Meanwhile, Daily Mail reported that U.S. President Joe Biden's administration is grasping to respond and unable to reassure American parents when there will be a restock of more formula on grocery store shelves.

Republican Rep. Kat Cammack tweeted her grievances with two images, one showing full shelves of baby formula and food from a processing center at the U.S. border. Meanwhile, another photo showed empty shelves at an American grocery store.

Cammack captioned the photos, saying that the first photo was from the Ursula Processing Center at the U.S. border, while the second photo is from a shelf "right here at home."

The Republican lawmaker then said that "this is what America last looks like."

U.S. Border Baby Formula

Cammack noted in a video posted to Facebook that migrant children deserved to be fed. However, the stockpiling was just "another example of the 'America Last' agenda," according to a New York Post report.

She clarified that it is not the children's fault at all, but what angers her is that the "America Last" agenda is being continued to be perpetuated by the Biden administration.

Cammack said in the video that the images were sent by a Border Patrol agent, who has worked in the agency for "30 years."

The Border Patrol agent did not give further details on the frequency of the shipments. However, they noted that the pallets pictured "were just a few" of what had been delivered on Wednesday morning.

It was not immediately clear how many containers the border facility had received on Wednesday.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott had commented on the issue, saying that the president had "turned a blind eye to parents across America" who are experiencing a nationwide baby formula shortage.

The governor added that the situation is yet another one "in a long line of reckless, out-of-touch priorities from the Biden administration."

U.S. Baby Formula Shortage

Ben Reich, chief executive of Datasembly, said that the shortage was caused by supply chain challenges, product recalls, and record-breaking inflation rates. Reich tracks retail information.

Baby formula stockpiles were 43 percent lower than normal, as compared to 30 to 40 percent readings last month.

Washington Post noted that the ongoing supply chain disruptions along with the COVID-19 pandemic has triggered shortages of a wide range of consumer goods.

Abbott has addressed the formula shortage, saying that it is prioritizing the production of infant formula products to cushion the shortfalls.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration was being called to reopen the country's largest baby formula plant.

The White House defended the closure of the plant. However, they could not say when it would reopen.

The president had a discussion with manufacturers Reckitt and Gerber to ramp up their efforts to increase production.

The White House noted that both companies said they are operational 24/7, with Gerber increasing the amount of their infant formula by around 50 percent in March and April.

For Reckitt, the company is supplying more than 30 percent more products to date.
