"Remove Amber Heard From Aquaman 2" petition is near achieving its goal on the web following the announcement of the verdict on Johnny Depp's defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife.

The petition published on Change.org has over 4.4 million signatures from people online, nearing its goal of 4.5 million signatures.

It can be recalled that the petition gathered traction from people online in November two years ago, reaching 1.5 million signatures in the light of Depp being booted from the film "Fantastic Beasts."

The petition was published by a group of people who believe that Heard "systematically crusaded" to ruin Depp's career in Hollywood. The group also believed that the "Aquaman" actress recounted fabricated incidents of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" star hitting her in the face "when she had in fact punched him."

"As Amber Heard is a known and proven domestic abuser, Warner Brothers and DC Entertainment should and must remove Heard from their Aquaman 2 film project," the group claimed, adding that the companies should not ignore the suffering of the actress victims.

The group went on to say that men are also victims of domestic abuse, contending that an action must be taken "to prevent a known abuser from being celebrated within the entertainment industry."

Johnny Depp Verdict: Amber Heard Reacts to the Decision of the Jury

The petition to remove Amber Heard from "Aquaman 2" neared its 4.5 million signatures goal as the jury awarded its verdict on Depp's defamation case against the actress.

The jury found that Heard is liable for defaming the actor in her 2018 op-ed for Washington Post. The jury awarded around $10.35 million to Depp in damages, while Heard was awarded $2 million, after Depp was also found liable for the statement made by his attorney, claiming that Heard's allegations were a hoax.

Heard noted that he was disappointed with the decision vested by the jury, claiming that the verdict is a setback in several components, including the notion that violence against women should be taken seriously.

Amber Heard Trial: Celebrities Who Extended Support on the 'Aquaman' Star

Several celebrities and personalities extended their support to Amber Heard despite several people who were against her amid the defamation trial.

According to the Independent, "Uncut Gems" star Julia Fox was among the celebrities who voiced support for Heard.

The star ecplained on Instagram that Heard did not abuse Depp because he was "always way more powerful" than the actress financially and physically.

Actor David Krumholtz posted a series of Instagram stories, claiming that drugs and alcohol turn men into monsters. He also blatantly claimed that he believes Amber Heard.

Comedian Kathy Griffin also tweeted her support to Heard on April 10, claiming that she thought of her when the actress announced that she will be inactive on social media amid the trial.
