President Joe Biden is set to appear on the talk show "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" for an exclusive in-studio interview.

According to Deadline, the "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" sit-down will be Biden's first in-studio late-night appearance since being inaugurated in January 2021.

Biden appeared as president on NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon" back in December. However, his conversation was recorded as a video interview, and he did not visit the production studio.

Kimmel announced on Sunday the president's appearance during "Jimmy Kimmel Live: NBA Finals Game Night" on ABC.

When it was announced, Biden was in Los Angeles for the Summit of the Americas, a political gathering of nations in North, South, and Central America to discuss mutual interests and concerns.

Joe Biden on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

According to Variety, Joe Biden last appeared on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" in September 2019 during his Democratic Party presidential primary campaign.

The president has also appeared as a guest on CBS' "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert," most recently in September 2019.

NBC News reported that Kimmel also tweeted on Sunday that Biden would visit the live show on Wednesday night.

Kimmel's interview with Biden will also be accessible through the show's YouTube channel soon after the live broadcast.

The president has been criticized for rarely hosting official news conferences. However, his public appearances often include wide-ranging question-and-answer sessions.

Joe Biden on Summit of the Americas

The Biden administration maintained that the president in Los Angeles at the Summit of the Americas would outline his vision for a "sustainable, resilient, and equitable future" for the hemisphere.

According to Jorge Castañeda, a former Mexican foreign minister, it was apparent from the last-minute wrangling over the guest list that Latin America is not a priority for Joe Biden.

Castañeda noted that no one knows exactly what this "ambitious agenda" is, other than "a series of bromides." Associated Press reported that the summit was first introduced in 1994 in Miami, with the U.S. now hosting for the first time in the upcoming gathering. It was part of an effort to solidify support for a free trade agreement from Alaska to Patagonia.

However, that goal was abandoned more than 15 years ago amid a rise in leftist politics in the region. The governments of Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela are not even active members of the Organization of the American States (OAS), a Washington-based organization that organizes the summit.

In 2018, former President Donald Trump did not attend the last summit in Peru. Many projected that there would be no future regional gathering. Only 17 of the region's 35 heads of state attended in response to Trump's "historic pullout."
