WWE Hell in a Cell Results: Cody Rhodes Wins Against Seth Rollins Despite Pectoral Injury
WWE star Cody Rhode proved his strength again on Sunday after winning against Seth Rollins in "Hell in a Cell" pay per view, despite having a pectoral injury. The match between Rhodes and Rollins occurred at Rosemont, Illinois, according to CBS Sports.
According to Bleacher Report, this is the third time Rhodes beat Rollins in a match. Cody won after he gave Rollins his Cody Rhodes finisher twice and then hit his opponent with a sledgehammer.
Other WWE stars who will appear in this year's Hell in a Cell include Bianca Belair, Asuka, Becky Lynch, Ezekiel, and Kevin Owens.
Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins' rivalry dates back to Wrestlemania 38, when Rhodes made his return to WWE after six years.
Also called the American Nightmare, Rhodes won his first match against Rollins. Rollins then faced Rhodes once again in WrestleMania Backlash, but the American Nightmare still won.
WWE Hell in a Cell: Cody Rhodes Reveals Injury During Match
Cody Rhodes' win in WWE Hell in a Cell on Sunday was not easy, as he revealed the damage his body has even before the match started.
The WWE star revealed his purple chest and shoulder, prompting a hush from the venue when he took his hood off from his body, per Metro.
Rollins did not shy away from targeting the injury Rhodes has revealed in the arena. At one point in their match, Seth dug a kendo stick in Rollins' bruised chest.
A GIF uploaded by WWE on Twitter showed how much pain Rhodes sustained after the kendo stick was dug into his chest. The WWE star was seen screaming in pain as he tried to stop the kendo stick from digging deeper into his chest. Rollins then donned Rhodes' jacket and grabbed his opponent's belt, then repeatedly whipped the injury in his shoulder.
Rhodes also failed to land a proper attack slam on Rollins' back. A video from WWE showed that he hurt his right shoulder when he was about to lift his opponent and slam his back on the ring. The American nightmare failed to complete the move as he released Rollins from his clutches and held his right shoulder due to his pain.
Cody Rhodes Injury Ahead of WWE Hell in a Cell
The bruise on Cody Rhodes in his chest resulted from a torn pectoral tendon ahead of his match in Hell in a Cell.
Host Kayla Braxton confirmed Rhodes' injury during a Hell in a Cell 2022 Kickoff show.
Braxton pointed out that a tendon tore completely from Rhodes' bones while he was weight training.
Rhodes did not blatantly announce that he will attend the match, but he tweeted a photo of the seats in Chicago where his match against Rollin was held.
"You ready Chicago," Rhodes captioned the photo.
He also tweeted WWE's poster for his match against Rollins.
