Texas Governor Greg Abbott on Monday directed all school districts of the lone star state to undergo an "active shooter training" following the incident in Uvalde that killed 19 children and two teachers.

Abbott penned a letter on Monday addressed to the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) executive director, Dr. Pete Blair, to help train the school law enforcement to respond to active shooter situations, KSAT reported.

"ALERRT provides the best research-based active shooter response training in the nation, and your work helps save lives and protect our communities," Abbott said in the letter. He contends that the organization has trained more than 200,000 first responders across the nation.

Abbott also highlighted in his letter that he wants an emphasis or instruction for "school-based law enforcement" in all of the state's 1,022 districts, in the light of the Uvalde shooting, according to New York Post.

"Texas can benefit from the expertise that your organization offers. I request that you provide a debrief of the Uvalde school shooting and other relevant situations to school administrators, law enforcement personnel, and other decision-makers charged with school safety in all of our public schools," the Texas governor said.

He added that the training delivered by veteran first responders will help law enforcement on school campuses better respond to situations like what happened in Uvalde.

Abbott also acknowledged in his letter that they cannot bring back the lives that were taken by the shooting, but they will do everything in their power to prevent the incident in Uvalde from happening once again.

Abbott hopes that the training will start before the next school year begins.

A week before Abbott penned a letter to ALERRT, the Texas governor was heckled when he visited a makeshift memorial located in Robb Elementary School in Uvalde.

A video Tweeted by Reporter Ron Filipkowski showed people booing Abbott while he was going out of the said elementary school.

A Fort Worth resident expressed her anguish to Abbott, calling the Texas Governor a "son of a b****." The resident also highlighted that the Texas governor did not do anything about the gun laws in their state.

President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden also visited the said makeshift memorial.

Texas Shooting in Robb Elementary School

The Texas shooting happened on May 24. The shooter, Salvador Ramos, 18 years old, entered the Robb Elementary School carrying an AR-15 rifle. Authorities discovered Ramos sent a warning on Facebook before committing the act.

Ramos killed 19 children and two teachers after he went on a rampage at the school. He also died in the aftermath of the shooting.

Previously, Ramos' mother claimed that he was not a violent person despite the caused casualty in the Texas school. However, his mother acknowledged that he did not have many friends.
