A Wisconsin man accused of murdering six people and taking selfie photos with some of the victims' bodies as his the background is now facing multiple murder charges.

According to Crime Online, Travis Birkley, 34, is accused of killing six people who were found dead from gunshot wounds at a duplex in Milwaukee last January 23. Court documents released last week indicate that the victims may have been dead longer than first believed.

Detectives had linked Birkley to the killings after finding evidence on his cellphone, including a photo of himself wearing one of the victim's expensive eyeglasses.

Court documents noted that three of the bodies were found in the home's basement that was seen in the background of the suspect's selfies.

The three other bodies were reportedly discovered in various parts of the multi-residence home. Police found the bodies after a woman called 911 and said she had been shot in the head.

Wisconsin Killer Admits Murdering 6 People 

According to NBC News, court documents noted that a witness told police that the Wisconsin man had admitted killing the six people with his cousin during a botched drug robbery.

The witness, who was not named in the court documents, also testified about seeing Travis Birkley with a gun, cash, and drugs believed to belong to one of the dead victims. The 11 shell casings found at the scene reportedly came from two different guns.

According to the criminal complaint, Birkley's cousin allegedly told police that they had planned to rob one of the victims after meeting to buy drugs, but the wife arrived at the scene, leading to them fatally shooting her.

The commotion reportedly caused others inside the multi-residence to probe, leading to their shooting deaths. The complaint against Birkley did not identify his cousin by name, and no additional arrests have been made in connection with the case. Police on Sunday said there was no additional information available.

Birkley was arrested in a home near North 16th street, less than a half-mile from the original crime scene last week. The Wisconsin man made his initial court appearance on Saturday.

He is being held on $1 million bail after he was charged with six counts of felony murder as a result of an armed robbery. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for June 15.

The Murder of Six People in Wisconsin

The victims were reportedly discovered during a welfare check on January 23 at a duplex near North 21st and West Wright streets.

According to Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, those killed were Michelle D. Williams, 49, and her husband, Donta "Michael" Williams, 44; Donald Smith, 43; Charles L. Hardy, 42; Javoni Liddell, 31; and Caleb A. Jordan, 23.

According to the medical examiner's report, the Williams lived at the duplex, as did Smith. Jordan experienced homelessness before and was taken in by the Williams, said his mother, Latoya Jordan.

The criminal complaint noted that friends had not heard from Michelle for a couple of days, prompting her son and niece to go to her house.

The son and niece noticed blood on the door and called 911. Hardy, Jordan, and Liddell were found dead in the basement after police arrived. All of the victims died from single gunshots to their heads.

The Williams was found dead by the police upstairs, while Smith was under belongings that seemed to have been piled up by someone who was ransacking the house for something.

Donta died from a single shot to the head, while Michelle was shot six times and badly beaten. On the other hand, Smith was shot four times, including one to his head, with apparent stab wounds to his hands and arms.
