Jennifer Lopez Says Sharing Super Bowl Halftime Show With Shakira Was "Worst Idea"
Jennifer Lopez has dubbed her Super Bowl halftime performance with Shakira as the "worst idea in the world" in her Halftime documentary.
The upcoming Netflix documentary made its premiere at New York's Tribeca Film Festival last Wednesday, focusing on Lopez's performance preparation for the 2020 Super Bowl halftime show.
NME reported that it was the first Super Bowl to have co-headliners and for the headlining artists to be Latina.
There was a scene where Lopez and her music director Kim Burse were discussing the time constraints faced by having two headlining acts.
Lopez said at the time that they have "six f***ing minutes," adding that they have 30 seconds of a song.
The Latina pop star went on to say that it is "the worst idea in the world to have two people do the Super Bowl."
Lopez's manager, Benny Medina, said that it is usual to have one headliner at a Super Bowl, adding that it was an insult to say, "you needed two Latinas to do the job that one artist historically has done."
Lopez's frustrations were directed at the organizers rather than her co-headliner Shakira, with whom she discusses set timings within another scene.

Lopez received backlash for saying that she was not happy sharing the Super Bowl stage with Shakira in 2020.
Amid the criticisms, Lopez has teamed up with an organization to help low-income Latina entrepreneurs, according to a Geo TV News report.
Lopez made an announcement in an Instagram post at a time when she just admitted to being unhappy about performing with another Latin artist.
She also opened up to Good Morning America this week about wanting to "change the fabric of America" for Latina entrepreneurs.
The Latina singer has teamed up with Grameen America, which is a nonprofit finance organization. The partnership intends to give out more than $14 billion dollars in loans to 600,000 low-income Latina entrepreneurs by 2030, according to an ABC News Go report.
Andrea Jung, Grameen America's president and CEO, said that both of them "feel so strongly" about the need for capital to be more readily accessible for Latinas.
Super Bowl Halftime Show
Performers like Madonna and Lady Gaga headlined the Super Bowl in 2012 and 2017, respectively.
They were each given 13 minutes to perform solo, as reported by Insider.
The 2020 Super Bowl halftime show ran for about 14 minutes, handing Lopez and Shakira about seven minutes each to perform a selection of their biggest hits.
Lopez told Shakira that if it was going to be a double headliner, they should have been given 20 minutes.
JLo reportedly told Shakira that unnamed NFL sources told her that they would have about 12 minutes combined to perform but would probably get a minute or two more than that.
Their Super Bowl halftime show ran for about 14 minutes, which let them have about seven minutes each to perform.
