A 71-year-old Texas man died after he was viciously mauled by a pack of seven pit bulls near his home on Monday.

According to Houston Chronicle, Freddy Garcia was walking to a convenience store at around 1:30 p.m. when the seven pit bulls with mixed-breed offspring attacked him in the 4300 block of Mark Terrace Lane in the Fresno area of Fort Bend County.

According to Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office, Garcia was taken via Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital but still died from his injuries later that day.

Fort Bend County Sheriff Eric Fagan said the Texas man was not confronting the dogs in any way, ABC News reported.

Seven Dogs Who Mauled to Death the Texas Man Now Captured

According to the victim's brother, Jorge Garcia, it was his brother's habit to walk to a convenience store near his Fresno area home almost daily.

Jorge said they always saw the dogs out, but there were never any problems. He noted that a passerby called 911 after the incident and an ambulance took his brother.

"He was in bad shape. They tried to save him. Somebody was driving by and the saw what was happening and called 911," Jorge told the Houston Chronicle.

Jorge noted that the animals belonged to one of his brother's neighbors. Fagan said in a press conference that four dogs were captured after the fatal mauling.

On Tuesday afternoon, it was reported that animal control officers seized the last three dogs involved in the deadly attack. Authorities are still investigating the incident and searching for the dogs' owners. If found, they could face criminal charges.

A 2005 law makes dog owners responsible if their pets harm anybody. That means the owners could face a second-degree felony that can lead to a 20-year prison sentence if convicted.

Fort Bend County District Attorney Brian Middleton warned dog owners that they are responsible for keeping their dogs secure. Middleton said his office would hold them accountable if they failed to do that. He added that his office is now "considering charges against those who may be responsible for this attack."

Another Texas Man Killed by Pit Bulls

A 51-year-old man in Harris County, Texas also died after he was attacked by three dogs last month. Nicolas Vazquez of Huffman city died in a local hospital after 10 days in critical condition, and both legs were amputated below the knee.

The Texas man was reportedly walking home on the night of June 9 when three dogs attacked him at the intersection of Harvard Road and Knoll Lane. Vazquez was bitten in the hands, legs, and head.

Calvin Stoy told NBC affiliate Click 2 Houston that he tried to rescue Vasquez, and he managed to scare off the dogs. However, he said he was too late as one of the victim's legs was torn down to the bone. 

Stoy said the dogs who attacked Vasquez were "pit bull mix." He noted that he knew the dogs because they lived right beside him. Like the Fresno incident, animal control also seized the dogs. 

Last week, a man in St. Louis County in Missouri also died after he was viciously attacked and eaten alive by a pack of pit bulls near his home.

Dennis Moore's wife told NBC 5 that she did not see his husband's body as "the dogs ate him up to the point where his body was decayed."

Moore's wife, Melvina Moore, noted that authorities did not show his husband's body because the attack was "so gruesome" that only the head was not eaten.

St. Louis Animal Control said three pit bulls were tracked after the attack, and they were being housed at the animal shelter.
