Texas Governor Greg Abbott has responded to New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who warned him to send busloads of New Yorkers to the Lone Star State to campaign against Abbott's reelection bid.

According to New York Post, the Republican governor publicly dared Adams on Wednesday to "make my day" following his threat to send busloads of New Yorkers.

Abbott's comments came a few hours after three charter buses from Texas dropped off almost 100 migrants outside the Port Authority terminal in Midtown Manhattan.

Abbott has an ongoing feud with Adams over migrant relocations. The Texas governor already sent nearly 70 migrants to New York City on Friday and Sunday.

On Tuesday, Adams noted he was thinking about delivering a busload of New Yorkers "to go to Texas and do some good, old-fashioned door-knocking" against Abbott.

In response, Abbott told Fox News: "You know, I kind of feel like Clint Eastwood... Go ahead, mayor. Make my day."

Abbott said Adams is now "getting a taste" of what border towns go through in Texas since President Joe Biden took office.

The Texas governor accused Adams and New York Governor Kathy Hochul of "rank hypocrisy" for attacking his actions, which were in response to Biden's "open border policies."

Abbott noted that New York "is a sanctuary city," adding that Adams said they welcome illegal immigrants. 

"And now once they have to deal with the reality of it, they're suddenly flummoxed and they cannot handle it," the Texas governor added.

In a news conference in Queens on Wednesday afternoon, Adams responded, saying that Abbott "thinks he's Clint Eastwood, but he's not."

"He is a anti-American governor that is really going against everything we stand for. And I am going to do everything feasible to make sure... the people of Texas realize how harmful he is to us globally," Adams said in reply to a question from The Post.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott Against New York City Mayor Eric Adams

Greg Abbott's campaign spokesperson Mark Miner told Fox News on Tuesday that people in New York City are volunteering to leave the city due to "high taxes, out of control crime, and poor leadership by the Mayor."

Abbott and Arizona Governor Doug Ducey earlier noted that the mayors of Washington, D.C., and New York cities were experiencing "a small slice" of the impact of the Biden administration's migrant policies.

In a statement, Abbott's office said Washington, D.C. finally knows what Texas has been dealing with every day, adding that their communities were overrun and overwhelmed by thousands of illegal immigrants due to Biden's open border policies.

On Friday, Abbott noted that New York City was the "ideal destination" for the migrants, who can receive the abundance of city services and housing that Adams "boasted about within the sanctuary city."

Abbott also invited Adams and D.C. mayor Muriel Bowser to Texas to see what the border crisis looks like firsthand.

The Texas governor added that he was still looking at other cities where he can send the migrants.

Greg Abbott first announced his plan to send migrants to the steps of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. last April.

He said the Biden administration will be able to "immediately address" the needs of the people coming through the border, according to Texas Tribune.

The governor's office noted that the program will be completely voluntary for migrants and will only happen after they have been processed and released by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Abbott's initial announcement drew criticism from immigration groups, while conservatives described it as "empty posturing."

Kate Huddleston, a staff attorney at ACLU of Texas, said in a statement that forcing to bus migrants across the country would be "outrageous" and "blatantly unconstitutional."
