Atlanta's biggest and most awaited music festival since 1994, the Music Midtown Festival promises to bring the biggest names in pop, rock, electronica, and hip hop to Atlanta from different parts of the world.

The long-running music festival went on a 5-year break before it returned in 2011 and has since claimed the Piedmont Park as its venue for the two-day event which will feature multiple stages featuring a diverse line-up of artists and performances.

Although the 2012 Music Midtown Festival was a little smaller compared to the festivals of the previous years, this year's show plans to return to the splendor of the festival's early years.

The names of the performers for the Music Midtown Festival this year have been announced in what can only be described as a star-studded list.

Music Midtown, in its 21st year now, will be held on Sept. 19-20 in Piedmont Park. Artists include Eminem, John Mayer, the Zac Brown Band, and Jack White. Other familiar names include Lorde, Iggy Azalea, Lana Del Rey, Bastille, Run DMC, and Gregg Allman. Other artists who will be performing are B.o.B, Fitz and The Tantrums, NeedToBreathe, Twenty One Pilots, Banks, AER, Mayer Hawthorne, The Strypes, Sleeper Agent, Bear Hands, Magic Man, Ron Pope, and many more.

Music Midtown drew over 300,000 attendees per event during its peak years. It had different set-ups each year, with a different number of stages depending on the expected number of attendees. In 2005, there was a decline in attendance, prompting the organizers to go on a hiatus as expenses also rose. It returned in 2011 but only as a one-day event with two stages and then started to expand once again in the following years. This year, Music Midtown expects to grow as big as it was during its peak.

Tickets for the festival will be available for purchase online starting this Saturday at 10:00 a.m. EST at livenation.com and musicmidtown.com.
