Eva Longoria received her career break when she played Gabrielle Solis on the ABC Television series "Desperate Housewives," in which she received a nomination for the 2006 Golden Globe Award for Best Actress.

But before she became a high-paying actress, she was a student at the Texas A&M University-Kingsville, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology, according to Famous People.

Longoria is born as the youngest daughter of Mexican American parents in Texas. She became Miss Corpus Christi in her home state of Texas in 1998 while pursuing her bachelor's degree.

Eva Longoria then decided to participate in a talent contest in Los Angeles after finishing her college degree. A theatrical agent then spotted the Latina actress. Her film and television performances soon followed.

Eva Longoria in Films and TV Shows

Eva Longoria's first appearance on television was when she hosted a segment of the show "L.A. In a Day." Gary Ghiaey produced it in 1999. In 2000, Biography reported that Longoria had tiny parts on TV shows "Beverly Hills 90210" and "General Hospital."

The following year, she joined the cast of the daytime soap opera "The Young and the Restless," wherein she played Isabella, a mentally unstable character sent to an asylum after two seasons.

Her role in "The Young and the Restless" earned her an American Latino Media Arts Award for Outstanding Actress in a Daytime Drama in 2002. Longoria then soon landed a role on "Desperate Housewives."

She also landed some movie roles during her "Desperate Housewives" stint, such as "Harsh Times" in 2005 with Christian Bale; "The Sentinel" in 2006 with Michael Douglas; and "The Heartbreak Kid" in 2007 with Ben Stiller.

Eva Longoria was earning around $400,000 per episode by the time the "Desperate Housewives" ended.

Eva Longoria in Apple TV+ Series 'Land of Women'

Eva Longoria is set to star in the six-episode series "Land of Women." She will play the role of Gala, a New York empty nester forced to leave their home after her husband links the family in financial improprieties.

Her college-age daughter and aging mother, Julia, played by Carmen Maura, will join her on her journey. According to Deadline, the story of the series will focus on the three women escaping the criminals her disappeared husband is indebted to by moving to a town in Northern Spain.

"Land of Women" is set to be directed by Carlos Sedes and produced for Apple TV+ by Bambu Studios. It will be filmed in both English and Spanish and will be made available to watch in each language.

The series is created and written by Ramon Campos and Gema R. Neira. It is a dramedy that is inspired by Sandra Barneda's best-selling novel. Eva Longoria will also executively produce the six-episode series.
