Colorado Boy Shot, Stabbed and Beaten in Broad Daylight at Recreation Center
A Colorado boy was found dead near a baseball diamond at a recreation center in Denver on Monday afternoon.
Local police identified the boy as Josiaz Aragon, 14. He was supposed to turn 15 on Wednesday.
The Denver Post reported that police initially said the victim's body showed no signs of trauma. However, upon further examination, Aragon was killed in the most brutal ways.
The Denver Office of the Medical Examiner said Thursday that the Colorado boy's cause of death was "multiple sharp and blunt force injuries with a gunshot wound."
That means Aragon was beaten, stabbed, and shot with a gun. The Denver Office of the Medical Examiner added that the boy's manner of death was homicide, ABC 7 reported.
What the Police Know So Far About Colorado Boy's Death
Police still cannot confirm if the Colorado boy's death was gang-related. However, Denver Police Department spokesperson Doug Schepman noted that Josiaz Aragon was killed at around 1:15 p.m., which means that the teen was killed in broad daylight.
According to CBS News, a passerby was the first to find Aragon's body. The passerby saw the Colorado boy lying near the baseball field in the recreation center at 9200 West Saratoga Place before calling 911.
Responding police officers then found Aragon's body on a blood-stained sidewalk outside the Southwest Recreation Center. Schepman said the circumstances regarding this case were "certainly alarming."

Colorado Boy Josiaz Aragon Did Not Live Near the Recreation Center
According to police, Josiaz Aragon did not live anywhere near where his body was found. Schepman said investigators still could not figure out the connection between the Colorado boy and the Southwest Recreation Center.
However, he noted that investigators believe Aragon was killed in the same place where his body was found. Police still could not also determine why the Colorado boy was there in the first place. Schepman said the investigation is still ongoing, and detectives were looking for more leads in the case.
Police were also looking at any surveillance video from homes close to the recreational center to help find the killer. So far, no suspect has been named, and no arrests have been made.
Crime Online reported that police are asking anybody with information regarding the case to call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. Callers can remain anonymous and be eligible for a $2,000 reward.
"We're hoping there are some people who have some information, saw Jojo [Aragon]... who he was with, and can help us... to advance this investigation," Schepman noted.
So far, police in Denver have reported 60 murders this year. Nine were reportedly juveniles under the age of 18.
