California Teen Kiely Rodni Search: Volunteer Divers Found Body, Vehicle in California Reservoir
The search for missing California teen Kiely Rodni continues with volunteer divers noting that they have found a body near a California water reservoir.
The group of divers noted that it was Rodni's body that they found, according to a Law & Crime report.
The group, Adventurers with Purpose, has provided help in solving cases in the past. Its information about having found Rodni's body has yet to be confirmed by authorities.
The Nevada County Sheriff's Office posted a Facebook statement that they are aware of the information and that they will be releasing further information regarding the matter once it is available.
Meanwhile, the Placer County Sheriff's Office noted that it is a developing situation and will be providing updates when they can. The Sheriff's Office added that they have yet to positively identify the body that was found by the group of divers.
California Teen Kiely Rodni Search
Sacramento Bee reported that several search parties, including volunteers and law enforcement officials, launched a massive search to find her and her vehicle.
Rodni's vehicle was said to be a silver Honda CR-V, which had not been since the night of the party.
A vehicle had been pulled ashore as deputies, and other officials covered the vehicle with a tarp. It seemed to be matching the description of the California teen's car. The discovered vehicle was drained of water and was placed on the tow truck.
Rodni family's spokesperson said it was still awaiting confirmation from law enforcement.
Authorities, including local sheriff's offices and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, noted that they received more than 1,800 citizen tips about Rodni's disappearance.
Linda Luchetti, the family's spokesperson, said that the family has no statement regarding the social media rumors as of the moment.
Missing California Teen
The 16-year-old was last seen near the Prosser Family Campground in Truckee, California on August 6. Rodni was reportedly at a party where more than 100 minors and young adults attended, as reported by KTLA News.
The Placer County Sheriff's Office noted that they categorized Rodni's disappearance as "a possible abduction."
Several agencies were involved in the search for the California teen. California Highway Patrol was included, as well as the FBI.
An initial $50,000 reward was offered for any information that would lead to Rodni. It eventually increased to $75,000 after family, friends, and local businesses donated to a GoFundMe account.
Angela Mussallam, the public information officer for Placer County, noted that Rodni's cellphone went dead and it became "virtually untraceable."
ABC News Go noted that Lindsey Rodni-Nieman, Rodni's mother, called her and texted her daughter. However, the teen did not answer, which was when she knew something wrong had happened.
Sami Smith, the 16-year-old's friend, said she was the last person to speak with her at the party. Smith said there was nothing off about Rodni during that night. She added that nobody expected it to happen.
