After a dispute, a North Dakota dad allegedly killed his son, brother, and his boss before he turned the gun on himself to commit suicide.

According to The Towner County Sheriff's Office, Robert Bracken, 59, allegedly killed his son Justin Bracken, 34; his brother Richard Bracken, 64; and his boss Douglas Dulmage, 56.

Dulmage, who hired the three men to help him on his farm, was among the four people found dead in a wheat field in North Dakota on Monday evening.

The sheriff's office said Tuesday that police officers were dispatched to Dulmage's farm west of Maza township after receiving a report about unresponsive bodies.

When authorities arrived at the scene, they found all the victims dead, People reported. Dulmage was reportedly gunned down while combining wheat.

Police said there was a dispute between the relatives, which led to Robert killing his brother, his son, and even Dulmage before turning the gun on himself.

According to Sheriff Andrew Hillier, officers proceeded to secure the area with the help of the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation with other law enforcement agencies.

The investigation regarding the case is still ongoing. However, it is currently being treated as a murder-suicide. A press release from the sheriff's office concluded that there was no known threat to the public.

North Dakota Dad Kills His Boss Before Committing Suicide

A family member of the Brackens reportedly discovered the bodies at around 6 p.m after the three did not return home.

Douglas Dulmage lived with his wife and daughter in Leeds, around 14 miles away. He was farming wheat, corn, and soybeans with his 95-year-old father at the property where he was killed.

Hillier said a gun was found at the scene, and it was a .357 revolver. A woman who identified herself as Robert Bracken's ex-wife told NBC News that her ex-husband did not have "a mean bone in his body."

She added that they "need time to process this," and she would await a police account of the incident before commenting further.

Death of the North Dakota Dad's Boss

A close friend of the Dulmage family, Pat Traynor, told the Associated Press that the farmers in the area and friends of the Dulmage family have already held one meeting on how they will handle the work of harvesting wheat, corn, and soybeans.

The head of a North Dakota agriculture group noted that the deaths have a huge impact on the farming community during a time that is usually a lead-up to celebrating the harvest.

North Dakota's Farm Bureau President Daryl Lies said it was hard to grasp and understand why something like the incident can happen in the state's rural area.

The Dulmage family was reportedly living a "complete nightmare," according to Traynor.

He said Dulmage was a pillar in the community and a quiet servant leader. Traynor added that Dulmage was a role model for all of them.

"Doug lived God, faith and family by his actions and not just his words... We should be more like him," he noted.
