Prince Harry, Meghan Markle’s Kids Are Now Prince and Princess: Here’s Why
Following the ascension of Prince Charles to the throne, he is now King Charles III which automatically gives his grandchildren new official royal titles.
The controversial Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's son and daughter Archie and Lilibet are now earning a new title following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
Harry and Megan's affiliation to the Royal Family has long been doubted after the latter and her children's race were questioned by someone inside the family.
What Are the Royal Titles of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Children?
Based on the conventions that King George V in 1917, the monarch's grandchildren automatically receive royal titles.
In this case, since the now King Charles III has assumed the throne after Queen Elizabeth II died earlier this week, his son's children, Archie and Lilbeth, get new royal titles.
While Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are considered Duke and Duchess of Sussex, their children assume new titles - they are now: His Royal Highness Prince Archie of Sussex and Her Royal Highness Princess Lilibeth of Sussex.
According to CNN, Meghan Markle suggested that these titles might be denied to Archie because of his mixed race ancestry that was brought about by her African lineage.
In an explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey last year, Meghan claims that these suggestions came from someone inside the Royal Family.
"That was relayed to me from Harry. Those were conversations that the family had with him. That would be very damaging to them," she revealed.
The comments were made at the time that the two were told that they would be losing a title and police security. By the time Prince Charles would take on the throne, it was said initially that their children might be denied titles, too.
Lilibet was born months after the Oprah Winfrey interview.
