Ron DeSantis Threatened to Send Plane Full of Migrants to Joe Biden’s Home, But It Never Appeared: What Happened?
Reports that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis will be sending a plane full of migrants to Delaware have taken the attention of the media, the state government, and even the White House yesterday.
However, according to The New York Post, the plane never arrived in Delaware. The stunt, pulled by the Republican governor, came after he did the same thing on former President Barack Obama's estate in Martha's Vineyard in Massachusets last week.
Like Texas Governor Greg Abbott, Ron DeSantis has also followed suit in touting President Joe Biden and the Democrats open border policies, following an exodus of illegal migrants crossing the Texas-Mexico border.
In a White House press interview, President Biden taunted the rumors, sarcastically inviting Governor DeSantis to their summer home in Delaware: "He should come visit. We have a beautiful shoreline."
Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre confirmed in an earlier briefing that they have received word that a flight will be landing in Delaware. State officials, community groups, and even media have staked out the Delaware Coastal Airport. No plane has landed.
According to The Daily Beast, the Florida Government paid for the flights amounting to $950,000. Tracking the flight, it also took the same route from Texas and a stopover in Florida. But instead of finishing off in Delaware, it landed in Nashville, Tennesee, with no migrants on board.
White House: DeSantis Wanted Political Theatre, Not Solution
Upon news that the same migrant plane that flew 48 Venezuelans to Martha's Vineyard has emerged, Delaware officials have taken action immediately – contacting medical teams, immigration community groups, and even church groups, The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
The White House press secretary, in a Tuesday statement, condemned the confusion and chaos that the stunt has caused.
"Our heads up did not come from Governor DeSantis because his only goal, as he's made it really quite clear, is to create chaos. It's about creating political theater for him. It's not about getting to a solution," Jean-Pierre told the press.
Last week, Governor Ron DeSantis' move to send migrants to Martha's Vineyard unannounced sparked immense legal heat from Democrats, almost at the same time that Governor Greg Abbott sent busloads to Vice President Kamala Harris' residence at the Naval Observatory in Washington D.C.
Texas Sherrif Opens Probe on Gov. DeSantis' Martha's Vineyard Flight
In an NBC News report, Bexar, Texas County Sheriff Javier Salazar revealed that they would be carrying out a criminal investigation on the reported luring of migrants to be sent off to Martha's Vineyard.
Apparently, these migrants were sent to a hotel under false pretenses before getting flown to Florida and eventually to Martha's Vineyard.
"They were promised work. They were promised the solution to several of their problems," Salazar said in a statement.
As of this writing, DeSantis has denied all the allegations of decoy breaking any laws on his "unprecedented" move to send migrants to Massachusets. As for the Delaware decoy plane, he has refused to issue any substantial comments yet.
