Pedro Alonso, who played the hedonistic and humorous brilliant thief Andres de Fonollosa called Berlin in the first Money Heist series, will reprise his role in the new prequel series. The new series tells the astounding heists he carried out before the events of the original show.

Esther Martinez Lobato and Alex Pina, who created the original Money Heist, said that the goal of the spinoff series was to put Alonso's Berlin, who they called "the most brilliant character," in a different setting.

At a Netflix event in Madrid Wednesday, the creators said that they liked the idea of showing a new group of people in Berlin in a very different emotional state, Ani News reported.

Pedro Alonso Plays Berlin Along With New Characters

Keila, an electrical expert, will be portrayed by Michelle Jenner (The Cook of Castamar), while Damián, Berlin's friend and philanthropist professor, will be portrayed by Tristán Ulloa (Warrior Nun). The unstable Cameron is played by Begoa Vargas (Welcome to Eden). Julio Pea Fernández (Through My Window) will give life to Roi, while Bruce will be portrayed by Joel Sanchez.

David Berrocal, David Oliva, Lobato, and Pina all wrote Berlin's first eight episodes. It will be directed by Barrocal, Albert Pinto, and Geoffrey Cowper.

Berlin will start filming in Paris on October 3. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it will take place in Madrid and the French city for several weeks.

Netflix's Hit Series Money Heist Continues

In 2017, Money Heist, a two-part, 15-episode limited series, was first produced for the Spanish television network Antena 3. This bank robbery story is full of twists and turns, and it is highly dramatic.

Berlin was the on-field captain of the heist crew. He made decisions when it was not necessary to talk to The Professor or when he could not take calls. Later, he sacrifices himself and is shot dead by Suárez so the other robbers can flee.

Berlin appears in flashbacks from five years ago with The Professor and Palermo in Italy, even though he is dead. The flashbacks show how he comes up with a scheme, stabs another man in the bathroom, or remembers his wedding to Tatiana. He is seen talking to Palermo in the series' final episode: "The Paris Plan," and their conversation finishes with a kiss.

Netflix requested the series' third season. In addition to paving the way for future global hits like Squid Game, the show's popularity helped popularize non-English language TV drama.

Roughly 180 million households around the world watched the series. In 2018, Netflix and Pina signed a global exclusive overall agreement, making it one of the first agreements that Netflix made with a non-English-language creator.

The Korean adaptation of Money Heist, Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area, was released this summer in conjunction with the Berlin prologue by Netflix. Despite the program's lackluster reception from the reviewers, a second season has been ordered, Prothomalo noted.
