SSI payments or Supplemental Security Income is a welfare scheme that is started under Social Security, which provides additional payments to those who suffer from any physical disability or who are aged 65 and above.

MARCA News reported that SSI recipients will be getting payment in October, as was the case in January and May.

SSI payments will instead be disbursed in September instead due to an oddity in the system.

Usually, the schedule for the SSI payments is deposited on the first of every month unless the first falls on a weekend or holiday.

If it falls on a weekend or holiday, the payments are issued on Friday starting the first of the month.

SSI recipients can receive their benefits to be deposited on Sept. 30, 2022, since no payments go out in October.

SSI Payments Schedule

The Social Security Administration also based the birth date of the recipients.

If your birth date falls between the dates of the 1st and 10th of the month, you are scheduled to receive the benefits on the second Wednesday.

Meanwhile, SSI payments are deposited on the third Wednesday, if your birthday falls on the 11th through the 20th.

Recipients can also receive theirs on the fourth Wednesday of the month, if their birth date is on the 21st through the 31st, according to a Social Security Administration calendar sheet,

If you have received Social Security before May 1997 or if receiving both Social Security and SSI payments, Social Security is paid on the third Wednesday and SSI on the first.

SSA developed this kind of scheduling of the distribution of payments in June 1997. Before the payment scheme schedule, all payments were released on the third day of the month. However, it became impossible as the number of beneficiaries grew.

The third Wednesday is also the schedule for the monthly pay date for those Social Security beneficiaries who are living abroad and enrolled in Medicare Savings Programs, as reported by AARP.

SSI Payments

SSI benefits are given to Social Security recipients whose Social Security checks are not enough to cover basic their living costs. It is administered by the SSA and provides monthly payments to adults and children, particularly those with disability or blindness who have income below financial limits.

Go Banking Rates noted that some states and U.S. territories supplement the federal SSI benefit with additional payments, with the maximum SSI amount changing based on an annual cost-of-living-adjustment due to inflation.

The monthly maximum federal SSI amounts for 2022 are $841 for an eligible individual, while an eligible individual with an eligible spouse can receive $1,261.

SSA an essential person can get a monthly maximum federal SSI amount worth $421.

The COLA for 5.9%, with the projected COLA for 2023 is 8.7$, according to the recent estimate from a non-partisan seniors advocacy group, The Senior Citizens League.

States that do not provide supplemental payments are Arizona, Arkansas, North Dakota, Tennessee, Northern Mariana Islands, Mississippi, and West Virginia.
