Donald Trump Asked Top Aides if Ghislaine Maxwell Said Anything About Him During Her Arrest for Sex Trafficking, New Book Reveals
Former President Donald Trump reportedly asked his top advisers if Ghislaine Maxwell had said anything about him during her arrest on charges of recruiting underage girls for Jeffrey Epstein.
According to Metro, the revelation came from the new book "Confidence Man: The Making of Donald Trump and the Breaking of America" written by the New York Times' Maggie Haberman.
In the book, Haberman detailed that Trump "anxiously" asked campaign advisors in a July 2020 Oval Office meeting if Maxwell had named him during interrogation about her inner circle.
During her trial, Maxwell did not reportedly mention any powerful men she and Epstein were once associated with, including Trump. However, according to Haberman's book, Trump seemed to worry he would become involved in the investigation as he asked his aides about the issue twice.
The book said Trump asked in reference to a New York Post article, in which it was reported that Maxwell would cooperate with prosecutors to save herself and would "name names."
Haberman said in her book that Trump was in the Oval Office with his top advisors when the article was published. The former president asked his aides if they had seen the Post article that mentioned him. But the aides did not answer Donald Trump, which prompted him to ask if "she (Maxwell) say anything about" him.
Book Revelations About Donald Trump
Maggie Haberman also detailed in her book a meeting in New York in early 2015 between Donald Trump and David Pecker, owner of "National Enquirer." The Telegraph reported that Pecker arrived at Trump Tower with a copy of the tabloid featuring Jeffrey Epstein and Prince Andrew.
The book went on to say that Pecker and Trump talked about the disgraced financier's private island, where he allegedly bring powerful men to have sexual encounters with young women. Haberman's book also revealed that Trump was believed to be on a private plane to Florida with Maxwell in 1997.
The book also made claims of Trump flushing official documents down the lavatory, including wanting to bomb Mexican drug labs and nearly firing his daughter Ivanka Trump and son-in-law Jared Kushner on Twitter. Trump called the book a "fake book," with "many made up stories."
Ghislaine Maxwell Trial
In July 2020, Page Six reported that many powerful people connected to Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell were worried following the British socialite's arrest. The list of well-known names included Bill Clinton, Prince Andrew, and Leslie Wexner, among others.
A former business associate of Epstein, Steven Hoffenberg, earlier said that Maxwell will be naming "some big names," not just those who abused underage girls but also those who benefited from having connections with him.
Hoffenberg went on to say that Maxwell thought "she was untouchable" and that she would be protected by the "intelligence communities" that she and Epstein helped with information. Andrew and Trump denied any knowledge of having sex with underage girls.
The Duke of York recently faced a lawsuit from former Epstein's victim, Virginia Roberts, which led to him losing his military and HRH titles. Ghislaine Maxwell has been sent to a low-security prison and ordered to serve 20 years for getting teenage girls for Jeffrey Epstein to be abused.
