"Back to the Future" lead stars Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd have had an emotional reunion at this year's New York Comic Con nearly 40 years after the film trilogy was released.

Fans were in tears as the two actors reminisced about the good old days during their Saturday panel discussion about the saga at the Javits Center, New York Post reported.

Lloyd, 83, who played Dr. Emmett Brown, said that working with Fox was the best part of the movie, recalling the day they met. On the other hand, Fox, who played Marty McFly, called Lloyd a genius and said that he and the "King of Exposition" had an "immediate chemistry." The pair shared a few embraces onstage as Lloyd held up his fellow actor.

Some fans said they were "crying" over the embraces shared between the two stars.

'Back to the Future' Fans Notice Michael J. Fox's Health Decline Due to Parkinson's Disease

However, online viewers instantly noticed Michael J. Fox's health decline. The Canadian-American actor was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1991 when he was 29.

Parkinson's disease is a brain disorder that affects the body's motor function, causing stiffness, shaking, and trouble balancing. But despite difficulty walking and moving slowly, Fox still appeared cheerful onstage.

"Back to the Future" fans admired the actor and said he served as an "inspiration" to others. Politician Steve Marchand tweeted that his father-in-law "battled Parkinson's for many years before passing away a few months ago."

"It's brutal. The effort, determination & courage on display here by Michael J Fox brought me to tears. Massive respect for him," he added.

Another Twitter user noted that people in the comments keep saying it's "so sad to see him this way." But the user added: "I'm just so glad he's still alive, fighting, humor intact, and able to make it to another Comic Con. I'm not sad as long as he's still here."

Despite his long battle with the disease, Fox stays committed to meeting the fans in person, SYFY reported.

"You guys have given me my whole life," Fox said. He noted that he was okay with his diagnosis and that helping others gave him a new meaning in his life. He said Parkinson's is a gift and the best thing that happened in his life.

"I've said to people it's a gift, and they say, 'You're nuts.' I say, 'Yeah, but it's the gift that keeps on taking.' But it's a gift, and I wouldn't change it for anything... It's not about what I have, it's about what I've been given," Fox added.

Michael J. Fox Remembers His Mother Who Passed Away Two Weeks Ago

During the "Back to the Future" reunion, Michael J. Fox also paid respect to his mother, Phyllis Fox, who passed away on September 24 at 92.

According to People, Fox told a story about how his mother didn't like it when he filmed "Family Ties" during the day and "Back to the Future" at night in the 1980s.

The actor said he was 23 when he called her mother, who is in Canada, to tell her that he'll be doing the Steven Spielberg movie at night and "Family Ties" in the daytime.

"And she said, 'You'll be too tired'," Fox said. The actor continued to say that until two weeks ago, his mother thought that doing "Back to the Future" was a bad idea. He added that her mother loved the movie, but she was right.

"I got tired," he noted. According to an online obituary, Phyllis was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, in 1929 to Henry "Skip" Piper and Jane "Jenny" Piper.

Phyllis is survived by sons Michael and Steve and daughters Kelli and Jackie. She has nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-granddaughter.
