Former President Donald Trump posted about Jewish people and Israel on his social media platform, Truth Social. However, this post did not go over too well with anti-hate groups such as the Anti-Defamation League, which is accusing the former president of "Jewsplaining."

In his Truth Social post, Trump stated that American Jews must "get their act together" to show appreciation for Israel. 

He added, "No President has done more for Israel than I have. Somewhat surprisingly, however, our wonderful Evangelicals are far more appreciative of this than the people of the Jewish faith, especially those living in the U.S."

According to The Hill, Trump also claimed that those living in Israel are a different story and said he has the "highest rating in the world." He even said that he could become the country's Prime Minister.

Donald Trump Gets Fierce Blowback From Jewish Groups and the Anti-Defamation League

Following his post, the former president came under swift criticism from Jewish people, Jewish groups, and anti-hate groups. 

One of them is The Jerusalem Post's editor-in-chief, Yaakov Katz. He wrote, "Nothing to see here. Just a former US president using threatening language about American Jews at a time when antisemitism is on a global rise."

Meanwhile, retired Army Col. Alexander Vindman also blasted Trump, stating that the embattled former president "is executing the fascist playbook to turn his mob on Jews." He added that his comment cannot be ignored and also called out the Republican silence on his comments.

Anti-Defamation League also called out Trump. Its CEO, Jonathan Greenblatt, accused the former president of "Jewsplaining" on Sunday, stating, "we don't need the former president, who curries favor with extremists and antisemites, to lecture us about the US-Israel relationship."

Trump remains popular among racists and White nationalist groups, such as the infamously antisemitic Ku Klux Klan. Antisemites showed their support for then-President Trump back in August 2017 during the "Unite the Right" rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. During that rally, openly-racist White men marched holding tiki torches while chanting, "Jews Will Not Replace Us!"

Donald Trump Repeating Claims That Play Into Antisemitic Sentiments

CNN reported that in an interview last December, Trump stated that Jewish Americans "either don't like Israel or don't care about Israel." He also repeated claims that evangelicals "love Israel more than the Jews in this country."

Trump also lamented that Israel no longer had the power it once had in Congress, and added that The New York Times "hates Israel," even if he also claimed that the publication is run by Jewish people. 

"People in this country that are Jewish no longer love Israel," he claimed.

These comments were also condemned by the Anti-Defamation League. The group said that the former president was using "classic antisemitic stereotypes" about the Jewish controlling Congress and stated that his statements during that interview were disturbing.
