Gabby Petito Seen Alive With Brian Laundrie at Wyoming Grocery Store in Chilling New Video Captured Just Before Her Murder
New surveillance footage showed that Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie were at a Wyoming grocery hours before she's believed to have been killed by her fiance.
According to People, the new clip released by Fox News showed Petito's 2021 Ford Transit pulling into a parking lot of a Whole Foods store in Jackson, Wyoming, on August 27, 2021, at 2:11 p.m.
Petito and Laundrie were then seen entering the store before walking around for about 15 minutes. Laundrie wore sunglasses and a hat, while Petito was wearing shorts and a hoodie with a tote bag.
They reportedly bought cheese and coffee before walking back to the van and leaving the parking lot 20 minutes later to go to Highway 89. The highway runs into Bridger-Teton National Forest, the site where Petito's remains were found.
According to Fox News, which obtained the footage, Petito entered the grocery store with her arms crossed in front of herself while Laundrie's hands were in his pockets. Brian Laundrie's face was also hidden under his hat's brim and behind his sunglasses.
Fox News reported that investigators said this was the last time that Gabby Petito was seen alive.
Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie's Deaths
Gabby Petito disappeared on a cross-country road trip with Brian Laundrie. The couple was traveling to Oregon when the YouTuber stopped communicating with her family on August 25, 2021, when she was near Grand Teton National Park in Jackson, Wyoming.
Laundrie was named a person of interest by North Port police after returning home on September 1 or 10 days before Petito was reported missing by her family.
By September 17, 2021, Laundrie had also gone missing, and North Porth Police said that they, along with the FBI, were searching for him and Petito.
Petito's body was found at the Spread Creek Dispersed Campground near Grand Teton National Park on September 19, 2021. A Teton County, Wyoming coroner said she was strangled to death by a "human being," and the manner of death was a homicide.
On October 20, 2021, Laundrie's skeletal remains were discovered at the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park in Florida. His autopsy report showed that he died of a gunshot wound to the head, and the manner of death was suicide.
Brian Laundrie Confessed to Killing Gabby Petito
Last January, the FBI revealed that Brian Laundrie confessed to killing Gabby Petito in a message left in his notebook. The FBI said they found the notebook, along with a "backpack" and a "revolver," upon further search of the area where Laundrie's remains were discovered.
Laundrie's confession in his notebook was publicized in June. He revealed that he killed Petito because he wanted to "take away" the pain felt by his fiancee. Laundrie noted that he killed Petito after she "injured herself" when she fell into a creek in Wyoming during their road trip.
Laundrie said Petito's feet and wrist hurt, and she "was freezing, shaking violently." He said Petito also continually made sounds of pain while carrying her.
While she gasped in pain, he noted that Petito begged for an end to her pain. He said he would shake Petito to wake her up as he thought she should not close her eyes if she had a concussion.
Brian Laundrie noted that he did not know how serious Gabby Petito's injuries were, but "she was in extreme pain." He then said that he ended her life with good intentions.
"I ended her life. I thought it was merciful, that it is what she wanted, but I see now all the mistakes I made. I panicked. I was in shock," Laundrie noted.
The FBI said its investigation has concluded that Brian Laundrie was the only person responsible for Gabby Petito's "tragic death."
