Texas Senator Ted Cruz is releasing a brand-new book. There, he reveals new details on what happened to him and several fellow Republican senators during the January 6 Capitol insurrection.

According to an excerpt from the book, Cruz and other Senate Republicans hid inside a supply closet as the violence unfolded at the Capitol on January 6, 2020.

"While we waited for the Capitol to be secured, I assembled our coalition in a back room (really, a supply closet with stacked chairs) to discuss what we should do next," Cruz wrote in his upcoming book titled "Justice Corrupted: How the Left Weaponized Our Legal System."

The Hill reported that on the day of the Capitol insurrection, he and several other Senate Republicans were arguing whether or not the party should suspend objections and vote to certify the 2020 election.

"I understood the sentiment. But I vehemently disagreed with it," he writes. Cruz argued that he believed his choice was the "right and principled path."

Ultimately, Cruz and five other Republican senators voted against the certification of the 2020 election result in Arizona, as well as six others for the results from Pennsylvania.

In the book, Cruz also acknowledged that on January 6, "tempers were high" and added that several lawmakers were "blaming us explicitly for the violence that was occurring."

Cruz, along with other Republican lawmakers, pushed the discredited conspiracy theories that the 2020 presidential elections were stolen, thus leading to the events of January 6.

Ted Cruz Refused to Acknowledge That Joe Biden Won During 'The View'

On Monday, Senator Ted Cruz appeared on "The View," in a very contentious episode where he was grilled on his continued support for Donald Trump. However, Cruz did not just get contentious with the talk show's more liberal guests but also the more conservative ones.

According to the Texas Tribune, former Trump White House communications director Alyssa Farah Griffin pressed the Texas senator on whether he believed that President Joe Biden legitimately won the 2020 presidential elections. However, deflected and answered, "Biden is the president today," avoiding the yes or no question and refusing to acknowledge that the elections were not stolen.

Cruz got into an argument with former Republican strategist Ana Navarro during the show when he asked, "So it's illegitimate when Republicans win but not when Democrats win?" Navarro retorted by pointing out that Clinton conceded to Trump in 2016.

Co-host Whoopi Goldberg also hit back at Cruz and told the senator, "We may not like when Republicans win, but we don't go and we don't storm."

Ted Cruz Booed and Heckled at Yankees Stadium

After getting piled on by the hosts of "The View," Ted Cruz went to Yankees Stadium to watch his Houston Astros play the New York Yankees. However, it did not go over too well with the Texas Republican, as Yahoo! News reported.

The visiting Astros defeated the Yankees that day, and when Cruz stood up to wave at the fans, they greeted him with loud booing. Several posts on social media showed that several fans in attendance also flipped him off.

As he tried exiting, he was also called racist, with one fan telling him to "Go back to Cancun." This was a reference to when Cruz flew to Cancun, Mexico while his constituents in Texas suffered from freezing temperatures after the Texas power grid went offline.
