Anya Taylor-Joy Dating History: From Eoin Macken to Rumored Husband Malcolm McRae

Anya Taylor-Joy keeps her private life secret, so little is known about it. She once said in a The Guardian interview that "there's a beauty in being anonymous," which said a lot about who she is, according to Creeto.

"There's a reason why we're actors... we're playing other people, so I think the idea of someone being interested in me - I'm quite a private person - is a bit daunting but I try not to think about it," she noted.

However, Anya Taylor-Joy has been photographed with a few men that were rumored to be her significant others, despite her reputation as a "private person."

Eoin Macken

"The Queen's Gambit" star was reportedly dating Irish actor, model, and filmmaker Eoin Macken in 2016. Macken has appeared in films, such as "Resident Evil," "Close," "Killing Jesus," and "Centurion," and posed for GQ, Ralph Lauren, and Abercrombie and Fitch.

According to The Sun, little is known about the actor and Anya Taylor-Joy's relationship, but it was reported that they met on the set of the short film "Crossmaglen."

Taylor-Joy appeared on the actor's Instagram in November 2016. Macken posted a photo of them together and praised the actress for her "skills." They never stated when they started dating, but in July 2017, Taylor-Joy uploaded her photo with her supposed lover in New York City.

When the actress appeared at the 61st BFI London Film Festival Awards with a large rock on her finger a few months later, everyone assumed that they were getting married. In December 2017, the actress was seen kissing Macken and showing off her huge rock, but neither of them confirmed the engagement rumors.

However, it was reported in 2018 that they were no longer together and that she had removed the "engagement ring." Nobody knows how long they were together because they kept everything about their relationship a secret.

Ben Seed

Anya Taylor-Joy was photographed with well-known British photographer Ben Seed during the lockdown in May 2020. They were spotted walking together in London, with a source telling the Daily Mail  that "they make a lovely couple." However, there had been no further reports about them after those photos.

Malcolm McRae

Anya Taylor-Joy reportedly entered a relationship with Malcolm McRae between April and May 2021. McRae is the vocalist of the rock duo "More" with Kane Ritchotte. They currently have a deal with Warner Records.

Taylor-Joy and McRae were first photographed kissing in New York City before the actress confirmed her relationship with the musician during her Elle interview last year. 

The couple went Instagram official in October last year when the musician shared a sweet photo of them on his account. The couple made their red carpet debut at the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party in February.

Anya told a magazine earlier this year that she had finally "found someone who will happily sit in silence with me reading." Taylor-Joy and McRae have been rumored to be engaged after "The Northman" star was spotted in June wearing a diamond ring on her left ring finger.

Then in July, Page Six reported that Taylor-Joy and McRae had an intimate courthouse wedding in the United States. A source told the outlet that the 26-year-old actress and the 27-year-old musician tied the knot in a modest courthouse ceremony in the U.S. before flying back to Australia to continue filming "Furiosa," the prequel to "Mad Max: Fury Road."

Although Anya Taylor-Joy and Malcolm McRae made their union legal, sources said they were still planning to have a bigger ceremony with more guests once they return to the U.S. for a longer time. The couple has never issued any statement to the reports of their wedding.
