Donald Trump White House Chief Says Former President Could Be Beaten by Ron DeSantis After Florida Governor's Win Fueled 2024 Election Talks
One former White House chief of Donald Trump has spoken about the chances of the former president winning against Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
Trump's one-time White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney said that Trump is not "doing very well" after several candidates that he supported failed to win amid the news of DeSantis' win.
Mulvaney said that between being Trump and DeSantis tonight, "you want to be Ron DeSantis."
Some of the Trump-supported candidates include Mehmet Oz in Pennsylvania and Tudor Dixon in Michigan. Both have underperformed or lost the midterm races, as projected by Business Insider and its election partner DDHQ.
Trump and DeSantis have been rumored to be potential candidates in the 2024 elections despite both of them having yet to officially declare their plans to run in 2024.
Trump earlier said that he has to make a "big announcement" on November 15 in his Mar-a-Lago residence.
Mulvaney was known to have served Trump from January 2019 to March 2020. He has been critical of the former president, once calling Trump a "terrible human being."
Ron DeSantis Winning the Polls
Amid the win of the Florida governor, Trump was branded the Republican party's "biggest loser."
DeSantis had a landslide victory in Florida, which gives him a strong chance to challenge the former president in the upcoming 2024 elections.
Trump was also reported to be being blamed by members of his own party for the failure of the Republicans' expected "red wave," as reported by The Guardian.
The former president organized an election night gathering at his Florida party.
Trump has remained silent about DeSantis winning and what could be his potential 2024 elections rival.
Meanwhile, a number of DeSantis allies have "privately expressed anger" and disgust when Trump called his fellow Republican "Ron DeSantimonious."
The said allies are urging DeSantis, his family, and his top aides to push forward with a 2024 presidential bid.
When asked if he considered DeSantis ungrateful for his help, Trump said that he has always had a "very good relationship" with the governor.
Donald Trump Threats Against Ron DeSantis' Presidential Bid
Trump has issued a warning against DeSantis just before polls opened on Tuesday for midterm elections.
Trump said that if DeSantis were to run, he would release "things about him that won't be very flattering."
He added that he knows more things about DeSantis than anybody other than his wife. Trump then described DeSantis' wife as the one who was "really running his campaign."
DeSantis has not yet announced if he would go for his party's nomination for president, but said that he has so much more to do and that he has only started to fight.
Trump was reported to be "uncharacteristically" silent during his election night gathering but gave a short speech congratulating the winning candidates he had endorsed such as Marco Rubio.
The former president said that it has been "a very exciting night."
