Jeff Bezos Net Worth: How Wealthy Is the Amazon Founder and Why Is He Planning To Give Most of His Money Away?
According to Forbes, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos net worth in "real-time" is $121.8 billion, making him the fourth richest person in the world, and he has stated that he intends to give away much of his wealth throughout his lifetime.
He is the latest billionaire to devote his riches to charity, and he announced this with his girlfriend, Lauren Sanchez, during an interview on Monday, per ABC News.
However, the billionaire did not specify how or to whom he would distribute the funds, only that he and his wife were "creating the capacity" to do so.
"The hard part is figuring out how to do it in a levered fashion," Bezos stated during the interview.
He also stated that it was not easy to establish Amazon since it required a lot of hard work and brilliant teammates, and they believe that charity is the same.

Jeff Bezos Did Not Sign the Giving Pledge
Bezos had previously come under fire for refusing to sign the Giving Pledge, a movement started by Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, and Melinda French Gates to persuade billionaires to give the majority of their money away to charity.
A formidable force in the world of philanthropy since signing that vow in 2019, his ex-wife McKenzie Scott has showered charities around the nation with unanticipated - and frequently covert - donations, The Associated Press noted.
She has donated more than $12 billion over the last three years to historically Black colleges and universities, women's rights organizations, and other nonprofits.
Bezos, who got divorced from Scott in 2019, left his position as CEO of Amazon last year to focus more on philanthropy and other endeavors.
As part of Jeff Bezos charity Earth Fund project, he has pledged $10 billion to fight climate change, among other donations.
According to The Chronicle of Philanthropy, he donated $510.7 million to charitable organizations last year.
Jeff Bezos Charity Donation Through Dolly Parton
The working partnership between Bezos and Sanchez was evident when they announced on Saturday that Dolly Parton would receive a $100 million award as part of her Courage and Civility Award.
The award is the third of its kind; the first two went to climate activist and CNN contributor Van Jones and chef Jose Andrés, who used some money to cook for Ukrainians.
Sanchez noted in the interview that everyone smiles when they think of Parton.
"She is just beaming with light. And all she wants to do is bring light into other people's worlds. And so we couldn't have thought of someone better than to give this award to Dolly, and we know she's going to do amazing things with it."
Bezos highlighted that the Courage and Civility Awards recipients shared the ability to rally large numbers of people to solve difficult situations.
"I just feel honored to be able to be a part of what they're doing for this world," Bezos told CNN.
Bezos underlined the importance of unity in combating climate change while condemning politicians and social media for exacerbating conflict.
