American Tourist Found Dead in Mexico and No Foul Play Seen, but a Video Surfaces That Only Deepens Mystery of How She Died
An American tourist was found dead in Mexico while vacationing with friends. However, a mystery is surrounding her death, as new video puts authorities' findings that she died of alcohol poisoning in question.
According to Crime Online, Mexican authorities said Shanquella Robinson, 25, of North Carolina, died from alcohol poisoning, and even claimed that no foul play was involved, and her friends are backing this up.
However, her death certificate showed that she died from a "severe spinal cord injury and atlas luxation," which means her first vertebra became loosened or detached from the base of her skull.

American Tourist Getting Into Physical Altercation Before Death in Mexico
Shanquella Robinson went to San Jose del Cabo in Mexico with six friends on October 28. The next day, one of Robinson's friends called her mom and said a doctor was coming to the private villa they were staying at.
The video that surfaced online showed that the American tourist got into a violent fight with another woman inside a hotel room. North Carolina blogger Gerald Jackson told the Daily Beast that he received the footage from "someone who was in the [hotel] room that sent it to an individual family member they are friends with."
In the video, someone can be heard telling "Quella" to fight back. This further makes the events surrounding her death even more mysterious.
The death certificate noted that the American tourist was "found unconscious in her living room" and died 15 minutes after she was injured. While Mexican authorities claimed there was no foul play, a spokesperson of the property where Robinson and her friends stayed in told Rolling Stone that the incident is being investigated as a crime.
The spokesperson noted that they "are working diligently to determine the facts surrounding this incident, which is currently being investigated as an isolated criminal matter that happened involving guests at a private villa located in Los Cabos."
Robinson and her friends stayed at a rental villa in Fundadores, an exclusive gated community in Los Cabos with vacation homes and a private beach club.
American Tourist's Parents Want Answers
Shanquella Robinson's parents is mourning the loss of their daughter. Bernard and Salamondra Robinson told KPLCTV that when their daughter's friends called them, they said she died while waiting for a doctor.
They said her friends also told them she had alcohol poisoning even though the doctor had not arrived yet. However, Robinson's parents noted that they were not buying this story.
"After they said it was alcohol poisoning, we received the autopsy report on Thursday, and it said that her neck had been broken and she had a back spasm there was a crack, spinal cord was crack," her parents said, leading them to believe that someone attacked her.
Robinson's father confirmed to The Daily Beast that the woman being assaulted in the video was indeed his daughter. Robinson's body arrived back in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Thursday, and a funeral service has been scheduled for next Saturday.
Her parents are now looking for answers and have even contacted the FBI's Charlotte branch to help solve the mystery surrounding their daughter's death. They also said they were considering hiring a private investigator.
