2022 American Music Awards: Taylor Swift Brings Home 6 Trophies; Still the Artist With Most AMA Wins
On Sunday night, Taylor Swift swept the 2022 American Music Awards, taking home the trophy for "Artist of the Year" and the five other awards for which she was nominated.
She received three awards for her work on her re-recorded version of Red, which featured a 10-minute music video for the song "All Too Well" with Sadie Sink and Dylan O'Brien.
During her acceptance speech for the best pop album, Taylor Swift said she "never expected or thought" her re-recorded albums would signify anything to audiences, per Hollywood Reporter.
As she reflected on the hours and hours in the studio, methodically re-creating "Red," she expressed gratitude to those who helped her.
She gave credit to the artists who worked with her on the re-release of her 2012 album, as well as to Blake Lively, who directed "I Bet You Think About Me," and to Miles Teller, who co-starred in the film.
Taylor Swift returned to the stage later to win the award for the best music video for "All Too Well." She added that the audience's enthusiasm encouraged her to release a longer version of the song and produce the film starring Sink and O'Brien.
And for her crowning triumph, Swift reminisced on how the support of her fans had allowed her to create "more songs" in recent years than she had in the entire decade preceding that," which had kept her going and brought her joy.

Lionel Richie Receives Icon Award and a Tribute From Stevie Wonder and Charlie Puth
Stevie Wonder and Charlie Puth performed a medley of Lionel Richie songs in honor of the R&B legend who was presented with the Icon Award at the 2022 American Music Awards Sunday night. Smokey Robinson, the first host of the AMAs, presented the award to Richie, calling him "my brother" and praising his "versatility," Rolling Stone reported.

Richie's close friends, Wonder and Puth, performed a series of brotherly piano duets covering some of Richie's greatest works. They covered songs like "Three Times a Lady," "Easy (Like Sunday Morning)," "All Night Long (All Night)," and "Say You, Say Me" from Richie's massive catalog, which spans from Commodores hits to chart-topping solo singles. At the end of the memorial, Ari Lennox, Robinson, Melissa Etheridge, and Muni Long all performed "We Are the World," which was welcomed with a standing ovation.
