Killer Dad Chris Watts Will Celebrate Thanksgiving Reading 'Racy' Letters From Multiple Women, Eating Dinner Behind Bars
Killer dad Chris Watts, who murdered his pregnant wife and two daughters, will celebrate Thanksgiving this year with a "traditional meal" and "racy" letters from multiple women sent to his prison cell.
A jail source told People that Watts, 35, has been corresponding with several women for years, and he's been sending "racy" letters to some of them.
"They send sexy pictures, and he responds... There are a lot of women who think he's handsome and misunderstood. They send a lot of letters," said the insider, who has spoken with the killer dad a few times in jail.
The outlet confirmed that Watts bought a lot of stamps and paper from the commissary. Inmates are reportedly allowed to correspond with people as long as there is no threat to anyone's safety, but they are not allowed to send or receive pornography. Although, there are no rules against suggestive pictures.
The same source said that Watts has "got nothing else to do," so "he feeds his ego in that way." The insider added that the "only outlet" the killer dad has is reading these letters and writing back since he's "not popular" in prison and in protective custody.
"I don't know what he's hoping to get out of these letters... But these women are very important to him. They're really all he's got," the source said.
The insider noted that Watts started to receive more mails after the released of the Netflix documentary "American Murder: The Family NextDoor" in 2020, which is about his murder case.
Chris Watts is currently serving a total of five life sentences in prison without the possibility of parole. Aside from the letters, he reportedly has a Bible and several family photos in his prison cell at Dodge Correctional Institution in Waupun, Wisconsin.
Chris Watts Is Celebrating Thanksgiving Inside Prison
Chris Watts is spending another Thanksgiving holiday inside the Wisconsin prison. According to In Touch, the killer dad and other inmates at the facility will get to enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal.
The outlet reported that prisoners will be provided with a meal that includes roast turkey, chicken gravy, mashed potatoes, bread stuffing, corn, rolls, butter, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, and skim milk. However, it is not yet clear if they will be able to participate in any special activities during the holiday.
Killer Dad Chris Watts Murdered His Family
On August 13, 2018 or on the day he murdered his family, Chris Watts told Shanann Watts about his affair and said their marriage will not last. She replied that Watts will not be seeing their children again. Watts then strangled his pregnant wife to death.
Their four-year-old daughter Bella came in their room and asked what was wrong with mom. Watts then wrapped his dead wife in a blanket and carried her to his truck. Watts then seated Bella and his other daughter, Celeste, 3, in the backseat, just above their mom's dead body.
The killer dad then drove to an oil work site, some 40 miles from their home. Watts eventually admitted that he had not planned to kill his two daughters but smothered them there and placed their bodies inside an oil tank. He also confessed that he had buried his wife's body in the nearby ground.
Watts pleaded guilty to the crimes in November 2018. The killer dad was reportedly in a relationship with Nichol Kessinger before committing the hideous crime. The pair met at their job at the Anadarko Petroleum Corporation in Colorado in June 2018.
He allegedly lied to Kessinger when they met. He told her that he was in divorce proceedings with his wife at the time. He also refrained from telling Kessinger that his wife was pregnant with their third child.
After Chris Watts made the guilty plea, Nichol Kessinger was not able to speak with the media, and her whereabouts remain unknown.
