Caught on Video: Ohio Teens Speed off From Buffalo Wild Wings With Employee Clinging Onto Their Car's Hood
A dangerous chase occurred in Ohio when a group of teens allegedly fled the Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant after not paying their bill.
According to KEYC, Kayla Sherman was working at Buffalo Wild Wings in Willoughby, Ohio, around 9:30 p.m. Sunday when three teenagers entered, requested a table, and placed a takeout order.
When the food arrived, police said the teens allegedly left without paying the $115 check. To get the teens' vehicle license plate for police, Sherman noted that the manager ran out the front door and she followed him.
Willoughby Police Detective Lt. John Begovic said: "The manager tried to get the registration off the back of the vehicle. The rear passenger removed the temporary tag from the rear window."
Police noted that Sherman and another employee were near the suspects' car when the 16-year-old female driver began driving the white BMW, knocking Sherman onto the hood of the car. The vehicle then took off, with Sherman continuing to hold on while the other employee hung onto the car's door.
"They're yelling at me, saying, 'I have a gun in the vehicle.' They had a sunroof... and they were throwing things out of the sunroof at me," Sherman noted.
Sherman said the other employee got dragged as he let go of the vehicle in the parking lot of the shopping plaza.
Ohio: Buffalo Wild Wings Manager Calls 911
The manager of Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant called 911. The manager said: "I have a person trying to dine and dash on me... My employee is currently on their car. They are driving recklessly. My employee is in danger!"
Kayla Sherman was caught on dash cam desperately clinging to the BMW as it fled from the scene after police had arrived, Daily Mail reported.
For several miles, a police officer followed the BMW with its lights on, but when the car reached 50 mph with Sherman still clinging to it, he turned off his lights to avoid escalating the situation. The officer continued to watch the vehicle, seeing the teen driver turning the car at high speed down Euclid Avenue.
Police said Sherman was able to get off the car as the teens headed in the direction of Wickliffe before they got stuck in a snow mound. Wickliffe police units arrived on the scene and arrested the teen driver and her two 17-year-old friends.
Buffalo Wild Wings Employee in Ohio Shares Her Scary Moment
Kayla Sherman said it was, without a doubt, one of the most terrifying moments in her life, KSBY reported.
"At one point, they said we'll just take you on the highway and they laughed about it knowing my body would not be able to hold on at that speed," Sherman told News 5 Cleveland.
John Begovic said nothing surprises him anymore as something else always comes up "just when you think you've seen it all." Begovic noted that after Sherman was able to get off the vehicle, the dash cam video shows her walking up to the police officer who helps her into a warm patrol car.
Begovic said they were grateful no one was seriously injured during the incident. KEYC reported that all three teens will face charges, the driver's a felony charge. Police also alleged that they found marijuana in the car.
