iPhone 6 Release Date and Features: Wraparound Display, Sonar, TV Projector? [VIDEO]
Rumors and speculation continue to grow concerning Apple's release date of the iPhone 6 and what new features the smartphone will carry.
A fingerprint scanner is one of the biggest rumors about the iPhone 6. The fingerprint scanner will be on the iPhone home button, which should prevent people without the proper fingerprint from accessing the phone.
The Apple iPhone 6 is expected to have a new and improved screen. Apple tends to push the envelope when it comes to displays for its new products.
When the iPhone 5 was released, its screen was 4-inches, an increase from previous iPhones. This growth helped the iPhone compete with large Android smartphone screens such as the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the Sony Xperia Z. It is expected that Apple will increase the screen size even further for the iPhone 6 to a 5-inch screen.
Other rumors say the iPhone 6 will incorporate a 4.8-inch Retina+ IGZO screen, a creation of Sharp. This would make the iPhone 6's display brighter, clearer and with better HD resolutions. The screen will also be thinner and accessible when wearing gloves.
This new and improved screen could also be seen on the next Apple TV because rumors have it that this screen can range from 5-inches to 60-inches in length.
A wraparound screen may also be in the works for the iPhone 6. According to T3, Apple has filed for a patent for a wraparound AMOLED screen, similar to the 4th-generation iPod Nano. This new screen might be attached by a hinge allowing it to unroll, making the screen capable of almost doubling in size. Other features mentioned in this patent are facial recognition, gesture control and screen layering in order to obtain a 3D effect.
Since the iPhone 5's release, there have been many updates to the mobile camera. The iPhone 6 is expected to jump on this bandwagon since the HTC One and Nokia 520 have recently updated their camera features.
Could a sonar replace the iPhone's current infrared sensors? The Apple Insider reports that this is possible. A sonar will allow the phone to detect where it is, whether it be close to a user's ear or about to be affected by an incoming object.
The iPhone 6 not expected to be released until at least 2014. It is expected that an iPhone 5S will be released before the iPhone 6.
Meanwhile, speculation and expectations will continue to flourish. Check out the video below that foresees the iPhone 6 as having its own projector system.
