Chicago Woman Who Watched Boyfriend Kill 6 Members of His Family Gets 25 Years in Prison After Testifying Against Him
A Chicago woman, who watched her former boyfriend slaughter six members of his own family, was sentenced to 25 years in prison on Tuesday.
Jafeth Ramos has reportedly seen her former boyfriend, Diego Uribe, bludgeoned, shot, and stabbed to death several members of his extended family, including two children, at a residence on South California Avenue during a robbery in February 2016.
According to Law & Crime, Ramos struck a plea deal last year. She testified for almost two hours during her ex-boyfriend's murder trial in late September 2021. Cook County State Attorney's Office First Assistant Risa Lanier told WGN-TV that Ramos played a major part in the prosecution.
She was able to tell the jurors the complete details of what took place. Her 28-year-old ex-boyfriend was charged with six counts of murder. Uribe was sentenced to life in prison last month.

Chicago Woman Jafeth Ramos Pleads Guilty
The Chicago woman pleaded guilty to armed robbery under a deal with Cook County prosecutors. The agreement required her to testify against her former boyfriend.
Jafeth Ramos told jurors during Diego Uribe's trial that she accepted the plea agreement in the hope that one day she could again be with her son, who was barely a toddler when they were arrested in May 2016.
Prosecutors alleged Uribe shot Maria Martinez, his 32-year-old aunt, after trying to rob her on February 4, 2016. Ramos described how Uribe methodically killed each of his victims.
Investigators noted that DNA tests connected Uribe to the crime, and the cellphone records linked both Uribe and Ramos to the scene.
Family Members Murdered
CBS Chicago reported that both Jafeth Ramos and Diego Uribe both confessed to police, and the jury was also able to watch a video of Uribe's statement he made while in custody.
At her sentencing hearing, Ramos declined to give a statement. The Chicago woman waved to family members in the gallery and made a heart shape with her hands as she walked out of the room after her sentencing.
Uribe reportedly started killing other family members after demanding money from his aunt. He fatally stabbed his aunt's sons, ages 10 and 13, and beat or stabbed to death other relatives to make sure there were no witnesses.
The autopsy photos shown to jurors depicted the bodies of the two youngest victims, Alexis Cruz and Leonardo Cruz. According to Assistant Medical Examiner Lauren Woertz, Alexis had seven stab wounds to the chest, and his hands showed evidence of defensive injuries.
On the other hand, Leonardo had been stabbed and slashed, which caused around two dozen injuries. Woertz noted that several of those injuries were to his head and neck. Uribe closed his eyes and occasionally wiped a tissue on his face when Alexis' body was shown on the screen in the courtroom.
The boys' bodies were found two days after the attack when police did a well-being check at their Gage Park home after their uncle living with them failed to show up at work for several days.
The bodies of Maria Martinez's brother Noe Martinez Jr., and grandparents, Rose Martinez and Noe Martinez Sr., were also discovered at the time.
Ramos said she helped collect items of value from the home and did not call the police or try to leave despite admitting that she had several opportunities to do so.
Uribe's attorneys noted that Ramos got "a sweetheart deal," while arguing that their client could not have killed all six family members alone.
