Ronaldo Sends Beautiful Message to Lionel Messi After Argentina's World Cup Win
Brazil vs. Argentina is perhaps the biggest international rivalry in the Americas when it comes to "Futbol." However, one Brazilian soccer legend, Cristiano Ronaldo, is showing his respect to Lionel Messi when he finally wins one for Argentina during the finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The Brazilian legend, who won two World Cups for his country, took to social media to threw the Brazil-Argentina rivalry away in a classy message to the man who just cemented his GOAT status.
Even though there was a huge soccer rivalry between the two countries over who is actually crazier over "Futbol," Ronaldo admitted that he saw a lot of Brazilians rooting for Messi to finally win the one title that has eluded him his entire career.
In his message, the former FC Barcelona star stated that Messi's performance was "A farewell worthy of the genius who, far beyond being a World Cup star, captained an era. Congratulations Messi!"
North America's Big Three Preparing to Host Next World Cup in 2026
Qatar had been a very controversial pick to host the World Cup, with much of the controversy happening off the field, from the slavery-like treatment of workers who built the stadiums to Qatar basically buying the rights to hold the World Cup.
However, FIFA appears to be aiming for a clean slate for the next World Cup, following the myriad of corruption scandals that led to Russia and Qatar securing the 2018 and 2022 hosting rights. The next World Cup will be co-hosted by North America's three biggest and richest countries, namely the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
According to the Associated Press, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, led a presidential delegation to Qatar as North America prepares the hosting rights. She stated that they are very excited and that they are already "preparing for 2026 and we're looking forward to welcoming fans from around the world."

Lionel Messi and Angel Di Maria's Hometown of Rosario Erupts in Celebration
Meanwhile, back in South America, the Argentinian city of Rosario where two of the final match's heroes hailed from, erupted in a massive celebration as the people who knew Lionel Messi and Angel Di Maria when they were still young knew that their boys have done it.
One Rosario local, Santiago Ferraris, told the Associated Press, "We're champions, which is all we wanted, more than anything for (Messi) and for the whole team."
Lionel Messi was a product of local team Newell's Old Boys, while Angel Di Maria was a product of rival club Rosario Central. However, both had to leave Rosario for stellar careers in soccer, with Messi now being branded as soccer's GOAT, while Di Maria has become a huge name in Europe.
The performance of the two local stars blew the people of Rosario away. One fan, Micaela Junco, told the Associated Press that she was proud of the "Angel of Argentina" and the "GOAT" and how they played "because they are from Rosario."
We have the best players here in Rosario," she concluded.
Tens of thousands flocked the city's National Flag Memorial to celebrate the Argentinian World Cup victory. A rivalry match between Rosario Central and Newell's Old Boys was even set aside to celebrate the national team's epic victory.
Rosario Central product Angel Di Maria scored one goal, while Newell's Old Boys product Messi scored two goals in the final.
