Will Smith, Chris Rock Among the Most Searched People in 2022 After Oscars Slap: What Else Trended in Google This 2022?
Google Year in Search 2022 was launched at the beginning of December, providing social media users and internet people with a key overview of the main interest throughout the year based on Google Search activity.
While also providing nostalgia with a trip down to the search bar, Google Year in Search 2022 also offers insight into market research, which could be the cornerstone for strategies for 2023.
Wordle has taken the top spot with the most number of searches in the United States, and even around the world.
Wordle became the most searched word in 2022 with its social media presence.
Thi Nguyen, a philosophy professor at the University of Utah, wrote in a Twitter thread the winning feature of the game is the "social stuff" and its shareable Wordle chart.
Wordle's creator, Josh Wardle, has a partner who enjoys word games. Wardle made the game to make it as a gift to his partner.
Ever since then, the game has gained popularity.

Will Smith and Chris Rock at the Oscars
Will Smith and Chris Rock land in the people category of Google Year in Search 2022 after their Oscars commotion made the headlines.
Smith slapped Rock at the Academy Awards in March. He then apologized directly to the comedian and said he was "deeply remorseful" for what he did.
The Oscar-winning actor said he has reached out to Rock and that the message that came back was Chris is "not ready to talk and, when he is, he will reach out."
Smith also extended his apologies to Rock's mother, Rose, and his younger brother, Tony.
The actor talked about the incident in November again when he appeared on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah.
Smith said his "bottled" rage led him to slap the comedian, adding that it does not justify his behavior at all.
At the top of the list in the people category for Google Search is Johnny Depp after his much-publicized trial against his ex-wife Amber Heard.
Recently, the actress settled a defamation claim against Depp. She released a statement saying that it was not an "act of concession."
Heard also said that the court case this year has made her "lose faith in the American legal system."
Google Year in Search 2022
Following Wordle in its top spot were Google searches regarding India vs. England, followed by Ukraine, Queen Elizabeth, and Ind vs SA.
Ukraine was also the top search in the news category, followed by the passing of Queen Elizabeth landing in second place.
The late Queen died of "old age" on Sept. 8, according to the paperwork that was released. It also did not note any contributing factors to the late monarch's death.
Princess Anne registered the death certificate in Aberdeenshire. The doctor that certified it was Douglas James Allan Glass.
