World Cup: French Fans’ Petition to Replay Argentina vs. France Final Breaches 200,000 Signatures
While Argentina is partying like crazy, France is still seething after losing their World Cup final. The French still cannot let things go so much that they have petitioned to replay that thrilling final between the two national teams.
According to The Mirror, the petition was launched via the French website, MeOpinions. It was launched last Sunday and is asking FIFA to launch the match from scratch. As of writing, the petition has reached over 212,000 signatures.
Argentina was dominating much of the game, making France look like total amateurs. This was until Kylian Mbappe woke up and chose violence, scoring two goals in about 90 seconds. However, his hat trick was not enough as Argentina won by penalties.
France Fans Think Ousmane Dembele Did Not Foul Angel Di Maria, Leading to Lionel Messi Penalty Goal
The Argentinian run at the finals was sparked when French player Ousmane Dembele fouled Argentinian winger Angel Di Maria.
Referee Szymon Marciniak ruled that Dembele pulled the Angel of Argentina, therefore garnering a foul that led to Messi shooting and scoring a penalty kick. However, French fans do not agree, arguing that the contact between the two players was minimal.

French fans are saying because Di Maria did not topple into the box, there was minimal contact. Because of this, French fans think that Messi did not have to kick that penalty, therefore they need to redo the entire match.
Their other argument was that before Di Maria scored Argentina's second goal, Mbappe was fouled and France should have been awarded a penalty goal themselves. Regardless, this petition might not happen at all, as FIFA has previously ignored another French petition, this time from Euro 2020 when France was eliminated by Switzerland.
Argentina Government Defends Crazy and Chaotic World Cup Victory Parade
While La Albaceleste is getting all the praise for their wonderful performance during the World Cup, the Argentinian government has drawn some flak for how chaotic the team's victory parade had become.
There were some scary moments for the Argentine national team during that parade, including Messi, Di Maria, and others almost getting knocked off the boss by a high-tension cable, as well as a couple of fans trying to jump into the Argentina victory bus from overhead bridges.
There was also the fact that members of the national team had to abandon the parade and greet the crowd from helicopters instead of enjoying the victory with the crowd at the Obelisk, as there were too many people blocking the road that the team's bus could not go through.
The Argentine government then defended its action of taking the players away and making them greet the crowd from helicopters instead. Argentinian Security Minister Anibal Fernandez stated that their objective was to protect the players, not because they were about to be harmed, but because it was so chaotic that anything could have happened.
According to the Associated Press, President Alberto Fernandez also defended the government's handling of the situation, saying, "if you see the happiness that there were in the streets, the objective was met."
