Britain's frontline advertising regulator has banned a poster promoting Demi Lovato's eighth studio album for being offensive to Christians.

According to CNN, after getting complaints from four individuals, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) launched a probe into the poster promoting Lovato's most recent album, "Holy Fvck."

The poster, posted at multiple locations in London in August, featured the headline "HOLY FVCK" on top of an album cover's image.

The album cover showed the Latina singer wearing a leather bondage-style outfit and lying on a large cushioned crucifix.

The ASA said the poster has been banned for being "likely to cause serious offence to Christians."

An ASA report published Wednesday said the complainants "challenged whether the ad was likely to cause serious or widespread offence."

The agency noted that some also said it was "irresponsibly placed" in areas where children could see it. After investigation, ASA sustained both aspects of the complaints.

The watchdog found that both the words and the image used were likely to cause serious offense.

Citing Britain's code for non-broadcast advertising, CNN reported that ads must be prepared with a "sense of responsibility" and not contain anything that can cause serious or widespread offense.

Demi Lovato Doubts if She Can Even Say the Word

According to Billboard, when choosing an album name, Demi Lovato previously admitted that she was concerned about how it will be publicized on radio and in the press.

"I remember being the one asking questions, like, 'Am I gonna be able to say this? And what do I say instead?'" the singer said in a July interview with SiriusXM.

"And it's just like, look, it's f--king rock n' roll. They'll bleep you if they need to and, like, if they don't, even better."

"Holy Fvck" debuted at position seven on the Billboard 200 upon its initial release and has since spawned singles "Skin of My Teeth," "Substance," and "29."

The album also landed at the top of Billboard's Top Rock & Alternative Albums, Top Rock Albums, and Top Alternative Albums.

Demi Lovato's Career

Demi Lovato, who is now best known for her music, first gained public attention as a child actress on the show "Barney & Friends."

Starring as Mitchie Torres, she became a household name in Disney's "Camp Rock" and its sequel, "Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam."

Several albums from her studio discography are available to listeners. With the "Holy Fvck" album's success, Lovato thanked her fans.

"Thank you doesn't cut it," Lovato wrote in an August 2022 Instagram post. "I'm blown away and so beyond grateful. I love you all so much."

Last July, Lovato explained the album's significance on Instagram. She noted that "Holy Fvck" takes her back to her roots, adding that the album represents her, and she cannot wait to perform it for her fans.
