A mass grave containing 47 sacks of human remains has been found under a nightclub dance floor in Mexico, and it is believed to be a Jalisco cartel burial ground.

According to The Sun, the secret mass grave was discovered last week. Cops were led to the industrial warehouse turned nightclub in Tenango del Valle in the State of Mexico, about an hour from Mexico City, following the arrest of nine alleged Jalisco cartel members.

The 47 sacks filled with human remains were discovered after cops used a building-site digger to break up the floor at the La Joya neighborhood's property.  Investigators believed that these body parts were from at least 20 people.

The exact number of the victims and their identities are still unknown. Both men's and women's clothing were reportedly found at the burial site.

Jalisco Cartel Members Arrested Before Mass Grave Discovery 

Authorities said among those arrested was the alleged leader of a cell of the Jalisco cartel, Jaime Luis "N," alias "El Pozolero." He was arrested along with nine other alleged drug cartel members that generated violence in the state. El Pozolero is accused of kidnapping a woman in Tenancingo last year.

He and his men had reportedly torn off pieces of her fingers before releasing her in August. El Pozolero was arrested at the time, but he managed to escape until he was caught again last week.

Police confiscated a number of firearms and bulletproof vests during his recent arrest. Authorities in Mexico also recently arrested Alma Antonia Calderon Garcia, who had been labeled a "Cartel Queen." She and her husband were detained after authorities launched a joint operation in Michoacan on Tuesday.

Also known as Almilla, the Cartel Queen is accused of kidnapping five people along with her husband, Lucas Fierros Mora, alias "El Mataguaches," who is believed to be a high-ranking figure in the Jalisco New Generation Cartel.

The kidnapping victims, who were snatched from La Bocanda town last month, remain missing. The Sun reported that Garcia was already wanted for several crimes.  At the time of her arrest, she was caught transporting large quantities of methamphetamines.

The Jalisco New Generation Cartel is considered one of Mexico's most dangerous and powerful drug cartels. It reportedly had thousands of members and was allegedly involved in mass graves, kidnappings, acid baths, and video recording beheadings.

The Jalisco cartel had risen to power after Mexican security forces killed former Sinaloa Cartel capo Ignacio Coronel, known as "Nacho," in July 2010. Nacho's death resulted in the split of the Sinaloa Cartel into two factions - "La Resistencia" and "Torcidos."

The "Torcidos" became what is now the Jalisco cartel, which has since expanded rapidly in Mexico. The Jalisco cartel is currently being led by Nemesio "El Mencho" Oseguera Cervantes, who continues to evade capture.

The U.S. government has already offered a $10 million reward for information leading to his arrest. El Mencho remains to be the most elusive criminal and is reportedly hiding in Mexico.
