Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia and Rep. Lauren Boebert of Colorado are the two most controversial female House Republicans right now. During the chaotic voting for the House Speakership on January 3, multiple sources told The Daily Beast that the two Republican congresswomen got into an argument that happened inside a Capitol bathroom.

The argument between the two controversial lawmakers was likely the clearest example of the differences among GOP members. It can also be seen in the repeated losses of Kevin McCarthy in trying to become House Speaker and the ongoing controversy surrounding Rep. George Santos.

According to The Daily Beast, the rift between Greene and Boebert is evident as Boebert continued to be seated in the middle section of the House chamber, along with other conservatives and Republican castaways. On the other hand, Greene was sitting near the front of the chamber in a section of McCarthy loyalists.

Boebert remained with the other "Never Kevers" like Rep. Matt Gaetz during the final vote that decided McCarthy's House Speakership win, never voting for the California Republican even once. However, Greene stuck with McCarthy throughout the ordeal.

Witnesses Saw Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert Fight Inside a Capitol Bathroom

The confrontation between Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert reportedly occurred during this year's first day of Congress inside a female bathroom in the Speaker's lobby, just off the House floor.

A source familiar with the situation told The Daily Beast that Greene was inside a stall and came out of it to confront Boebert. According to Vanity Fair, it was a heated confrontation about Boebert's loyalty to Kevin McCarthy. 

The source said Greene asked Boebert, "You were okay taking millions of dollars from McCarthy but you refuse to vote for him for Speaker, Lauren?" Another source told the outlet that the Colorado lawmaker replied, "Don't be ugly," and then "ran out like a little schoolgirl." 

Other people who witnessed the confrontation also seemed to have acknowledged the tense exchange, including Michigan congresswoman Debbie Dingell. However, the Democrat remained professional and said she would not talk about the matter as "what happens in the ladies' room stays in the ladies' room."

Lauren Boebert to Explain Her Side of the Story

An excerpt of the Colorado lawmaker's interview on the conservative radio show "The Dana Show" was posted online Wednesday and according to Yahoo! News, Lauren Boebert talked about the incident for the first time.

She admitted that she and Rep. Anna Paulina Luna were talking inside the congressional ladies' bathroom, and "people were upset" about what was happening during the speaker's race.

"It had been a couple of days, we were not electing Kevin McCarthy, and we hadn't received the concessions that we wanted," she noted.

Then, she revealed that Greene approached her and started "being kind of nasty about it." She said nobody else had been "nasty" about it since they all had been very professional.

"And so when she started going after me, I looked at her and said, 'Don't be ugly'," Boebert noted.

Host Dana Loesch then asked her about them looking like BFFs before. Boebert then answered, "There was there was nothing against her, we travel in the same circles, have the same policy views on a lot of things - not everything - but on many things." 

"But yeah, I looked at her, said, 'I don't have time for this, so don't be ugly.' And that's something that my granny used to say to me when I was being a brat," she added.
